Belting Prog. One of the best in a long time. Really enjoyed this.
Dredd/Aliens: Going well. Nearly half way through, expecting some major twist, fairly certain that I know how they'll get rid of the aliens, but maybe I'll be wrong.
Slaine: Last episode, possibly the best one in the series. Nice little moment with Ukko. Great to see Billy Boyd and the other hobbits playing the children. Nice ending as well.
Cabalistics Inc: Too much about this episode was great, so I'm sure I'll miss something. Interesting resolution to the cliffhanger last week, even better cliff-hanger this time. Liked Brand's reaction to the group name. Really looking forwards to the next serial, and hopefull that there will be many more. But why can't we ever have two stories one after another for anyone but Dredd and Sin/Dex?
Dante: As good as we've come to expect. Interestingly the repercussions od the events with the Tsar come back into focus. Laugh out loud funny in places, which is always good.
Cover: Nice, but where have I seen that image of Slaine before?
The V.C.'s and Bec and Kawl return next week you say? Top stuff.
SPOILERS
lets be fair. not everyone has a subscription.
But I set it to Spoilers! Arse biscuits. Sorry folks.
Blimey, you're quick of the mark D.D.

Bah... That trick works better when you use the american version of color in the style declaration.

Dummkopf :)
Three incidents of children being threatened this week. Ooh, there could be uproar... But it's a cracking prog. Dredd almost pales in comparison with the other stuff, no mean feat.
I've really enjoyed this first book of the Slaine epic, but everything's felt so rushed, and with an odd lack of real anger and emotion. I loved Niamh's pre-Raphaelite style burial, and the demons fiery assembly, but it's all over too quick! Have to wait till summer now. Nuts!
Dredd/Aliens - Coming along rather nicely. Im stillwaiting for some twist some big bang from Diggle and Wagner. In the meantime Ill enjoy FLints art.
Slaine - I liked this and maybe with the comments of Morloch the scene last issue was "more" justified, maybe. Good ending.
Caballistics Inc - Loveley. Mr Rennie, please take a bow. I really like this. I also like the fact we are being made to wait for the next installment. I like endings that ask more questions than they answer and in this there are a lot. Great
Dante - This story is too good. We have his character summed up rather nicely this week. A womaniser who care for innocents, brilliant.
VC's Next Week. Thank you Tharg.
Bec & Kawl. Keeping those fingers crossed.
Yer "happy" Slippo
Slaine was really good this week I thought, best strip of the week. I think if they'd all been double episodes the story would have seemed a lot better for it. How many parts has it been? It says six, but I think there may have been at least a couple of double episoders making it about 8 parts. Nice to see a 13 panel page again Pat.
And he did not think it too many...
Did caballistics really have a story? It seemed a bit weak to me. Strange things happen, they are told it is a hellbomb, and then a glowy woman gets rid of it. Scooby Doo had more involved cases. All the interesting stuff seemed to be the background of the characters and I'll look forward to seeing more of that.
Dante seemed more interesting on the raft, it's back into the political world stuff which I'm not really sure about.
Dredd. Pity the poor wee ones.
Reckon I got out of bed on the wrong side. It'll probably all seem better on a re-read. Nice cover, all the arts nice and no filler.
A certain amount of anticipation and dread for next week.
Got my prog late this week which made it all the better as I opened that envelope.
First reaction was wow, what a fantastic cover! Yur man langley has come on leaps and bounds, and the illustration in the strip was equally groovy. I'm back to loving Slaine again after having my doubts last week. One little quibble or query though - if Slaine died at the end of his 7 years as king, and his subsequent adventures through time were in the afterlife, then how did he come to return as a mortal to the time of his people? And if he's not a mortal, how can he die again? Did I miss something somewhere?
Rest of the prog was pretty flippin' excellent too. Cabbalistics - Ravne was (is?) a narsty Nazi eh, well we knew he was a rum 'un (bathing in the blood of freshly slaughtered boys etc)
Dante excellent, Dredd sort of just eye candy for me as I can't be arsed with the whole crossover thang but hey - what nice eye candy!
Dissappointed that the Flint droid won't be illustrating VCs, don't know who this Anthony Williams is (did he do VCs in prog 2003? If so, he's pretty good).
Anyway, zarjaz prog all round, enjoyment enhanced by the delay!
Zeep
Hav'nt got mine yet!!!!
Am I the only one without this prog???
Nah, a few haven't got them. Subs have been delayed by the Royal Mail's aversion to snow. And usually you find people get them within a day or two for each other, so if some of us got them today, I imagine the rest will have 'em tomorrow.
Anyone else excited by Ezquerra's Joe Pinapples preview?
Was a great prog and everything paled in comparison to Slaine, which I've completely hated up to now. Now I remember what I loved about Pat's writing when I started reading, about the time of the Cythrons storyline. Great stuff.
But Beck & Kawl return next prog?!
Christ.
Still haven't got mine yet....sniff, sniff!
HiEx
Dredd v Raptaur oops I meant Aliens: Picking up a little more now (really the first few episodes were just getting the obligatory facehuggin' & chestburstin' out of the way, now let's see Dredd clean up the mess.
Dante: YAY YAY YAY for Nikki - he the best!
Cab Inc: Thought the beginning of this episode a little confusing... not sure what happened, re read it & ahh! she just goes magic & saves the day ("then a glowy woman gets rid of it" sums it up pretty well PVS). Enjoyed it though, good stuff... nice the way it is about the characters bonding (or not) rather than the actual threat.
Sl?ine: blimey that's good stuff, Book I seems like a real return to glory for Sl?ine although I have lost a lot of empathy about him & his world over the last few years, hopefully I can regain some with this trilogy.
So then: V.C.s & B&K next week... what else? Will V.C.s be a double episode? Future Shock? Sinister Dexter?
ME ME ME!!
Can't wait for that. First Ezquerra ABC's since oooo, nearly the start of it all. Think that's when he was L.J.Silver? I liked the last ABC stuff although I thought the art was a bit of a let down after all Kev Walker's stuff (especially in Prog 2000, EEK, that's ages ago!), so this should see a welcome return to some classy old school B&W.
Aside from that, I thought Slaine was superb. Best since the Horned God (if you liked the Horned God that is).
Nice end to Cabbalistics.
Dredd trundling along nicely with the Alien.
Dante, superb!
Listen to the opinions of the mighty piscine overlord!
I freely admit to complete turnaround on my opinion of Slaine in the space of a week. I enjoyed this prog's finale more than I have any Slaine stuff for years.
Finally, finally, we got an actual story, moving forward, with human touches and even character development.
And is it my imagination or has Langley taken more time over the art for this one? Much impressed.
Dante remains a mainstay and entertaining.
Dredd was again action-packed, and it's great to see the judge getting stuck in.
A thought: Are we seeing just how tough he is, when we know the terrifying power of the xenomorph? I'm really quite into this story.
On Caballistics, I'm still reserving my opinion. It needs more time to get going, I think, although it was a better filler than a Future Shock. Shades of Hellboy, but that's no bad thing.
Finally, a hearty yes to Mangamax. Keen on Carlos Warriors.
Is it just me, or does it seem distinctly post-modern that Ezquerra seems to have drawn Joe Pineapples "after" Bisley?
Looks terrific.
Currently, this evil fish is extremely pleased and proud to be a 2000AD reader.
- Trout
i agree with the trout on all points this time yes even about slaine but no one has mentioned that tharg is apparently threatening us with a second series of asylum?
Davids opinion: better be better than the first...oh and that was a shock about udge castillo i didn't know she was dead
I'd much rather see Asylum 2 than Atavar 2.
And looking forward to Caballistics 2, this has been one of the best new stories for ages IMO, loads of potential in it.
Slaine: Bah! Just as it really kicks off it ends! It's almost as though they want you to have a sense of "hanging" off a "cliff" in some way...
Dredd chugging along nicely, still waiting for that killer twist, but really enjoying it along the way, especially top artwork.
Dante great, of course.
All in all, Tharg's organ is standing prouder than it has for quite a while. Let's hope he can keep it up, eh? ;)
this months previews "might" give away the "killer" twist in the story...
Yeah Troutman, Pinapples mouth and chin has definetly got a touch of the Bisley's about them
A quick thanks to Mr Rennie for extending my German vocab beyond "Mach Schnell!", "Actung Minen!", "Hande Hock!", "Got in Himmel!" and "For you Tommy, the War is over!"
Prog arrived today - Love the cool black & white logo.
