Sorry if this post is a bit rambly/incoherent, I've been pulling all nighters and am a bit frazzled :)
I'm working on a Dredd movieverse project based loosely on the Democracy storyline. Currently I'm working on painting up propaganda posters from the side of the Justice Dept and from the side of the Dem terrorists to post around the city.
I love the Judge Pal ads that occasionally appear in the comic. I was wondering if there was any more Justice Dept propaganda art along these lines in the comics for things such as the sterilization program, recruiting, ratting on people etc?
On another note, I'm curious to know how Alex Garland was going to pull off that kind of script with the pro-Dems. Dredd was such a dick during a lot of it, and in the actual movie he didn't seem like the kind of guy to use dirty tactics.
At a guess he'd go the Total War route, and have them as terrorists a lot more quickly.
It would sidestep the Revolution bit where they're peaceful, even though in the comics that's likely a result of Justice Department crushing the peaceful protesters.
Regarding Posters - not sure about anything regarding sterlisation.
Off the top of my head
the Euthanasium is mentioned (The Warlord), so advertising for that might work, state sanctioned euthanasia seems to fit in the movie world.
On visits to Resyk, they talk about loved ones being made into souvenirs as a memento.
Before Judge Pal, there were peepers, where Peeping Toms were recruited to act as spys for Justice Department - that could possibly work as a poster.
The 'Security of the City Act' crops up a fair bit, which gives them carte blanche to do anything (steal organs for example)
I can't think of much more than the usual 'Justice Dept is watching you, Obey the Law, see a crime, report it kind of stuff', I don't remember any recruitment posters.
You tend to get a lot of this kind of stuff in the old specials/annuals/megazine text pieces, so it doesn't tend to get reprinted in the trades (although CF22 has the Judge Pal ad with that story)

Are these of any use to you? I think I put some more out on my @Judge_Pal twitter feed. Might be worth a browse.

I also put out general Justice Dept announcements on that twitter feed, which could easily be adapted for posters and prints.
There are some posters in the Dredd vs Death game that came out a few years ago that you might be interested in:

Like Steve, I'm coming up blank regarding any art urging citizens to get their tubes tied or to sign over their offspring to the Academy. If you want to come up with your own take on a recruitment poster, prog 522's
So You Want To Be A Judge (Case Files 10) spells out Justice Department's sales pitch. The two instances of propaganda that spring to mind immediately are this incidental detail (http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s410/sauchieboy/8f74490f-0c01-4769-99e0-21990480e636.jpg?t=1396631374) from Judge Anderson solo outing
Hour Of The Wolf and a sweet diptych (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kjqvDPeoQ8E/UD3o7dWrymI/AAAAAAAAFNU/qMiwyALN3jM/s1600/judge+dredd_the+law+loves+you_prog+472.jpg) by Steve Dillon.
I bloody love Steve Dillon, but considering Dredd is crouched down in that pic, when standing straight he must be eight feet tall! Or the perp is a midget, one of the two.
Thanks guys for the info so far. I'm not looking to copy anything in the prog per se, I just thought the Judge Pal ads were brilliant and wanted to see/know more. On the pro-Dem side I'm doing more of a take on iconic paintings such as Liberty Leading the People, etc.
@shaolin: your twitter feed is amazing. Also liked your essay you wrote about why you chose to cosplay him :)

The perp's only a little taller than Anderson, and - as we know from the movie - she's not much bigger than a Toksvig. That Barry Kitson billboard of a judge pointing at the viewer and saying
WE'RE WATCHING U is clearly riffing on this (http://www.sterlingtimes.org/kitchener.jpg) (or this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/the2funadguyz/ABCfixes/BigPics0to600/0128Big.jpg), if you drive on the right), and Cliff Robinson (http://www.2000ad.org/covers/2000ad/hires/625.jpg) had a go at that himself. Actually, a lot of Robinson's covers (http://www.2000ad.org/covers/2000ad/hires/511.jpg) took the form of imagined Justice Department propaganda.
We knocked these up for background stuff in Minty.

hnnnnnnnnnngghhhh those posters are so amazingggg
I can't tell you how incredibly sad I jumped on the ship too late to see Minty at Wasteland Weekend. I know it's been, like, a year since it came out, but there's no way you guys are coming back to any cons on the US West Coast are you? :'( :'( Maybe I'll make it over the water by the time you come out with your new film :)
If you are looking for iconography for the Democracy movement you might want to look at the stylised raised fist DEM placard from part 3 of Twilight's Last Gleaming (Case Files 16) and, of course, there is always the evergreen "Judges Out" slogan that appears on placards and scrawled on walls.

Those Minty posters are, as the kids say, amazeballs.

I love that cover.
Re: Minty - We've not done any non-Uk cons in person, although Daniel who made the costumes will be at SDCC as Planet Replicas on the 2000AD stand.
We're a bit surprised that there's still people interested in showing it since it's been online almost a year.
I have the feeling there is one US showing that has been talked about - I'll ask Steve S.
And we're just waiting until things are a bit further along, until we announce the next one.
Cool Posters Judges
