Excellent display, great lids! Please share build shots/ WIP's. Look forward to seeing more.
I wanted to make sure it was possible for any one to build these helmets.
SO I started with looking for an "close enough" shape and simply cut and re-shape what was already there
So the MC-1 helmet - 8 L chicken drinker (see the other thread)
For Murphyville
once again I started with a 8L chicken drinker and cut the rough shape out

the problem with Murphyville is that the helmet has a point, so out came the heat gun and some gentle re-shaping

Brit Cit started as a plant cloche bell - there are many shapes, so hunt around for one that you like the look of

its cheap vac form, so needed to reinforce it, I ran 2 part polyurethan resin on the inside

Fantastic work KP.
More now please :D
These are all excellent (and the other builds you've posted today too), I'm lost in admiration of people who can build stuff like this.
Is that an official Murphyville Justice Dept issue hipflask I can see?
Wonderful work!
rofl unfortunately, its my personal flask. ANd its filled with rum, not guiness :D
thanks for comments guys
I build lots and often forget to post up WIP - although I mean to, just so if any other fans out there want to make one, they CAN!!
Nate
Mmmm...rum and Zap-a-gap....odd mix! :p
You make it look so easy! Although having made shoddy Captain Rex and Gimli helmets for my son, I'm bloody sure it's not.
rofl - I am sure that they arent shoddy, they are just prototypes :D
I have been making costumes for abt 8 yrs now, so have a lot of transferrable tricks.
lmk if you need a hand!
Nate
These are fantastic! I'm inspired to try it myself
I'll be sure to post a picture of the puddle of melted plastic and the smoldering remains of my room when I'm done ;)
Yup, all of the recent stuff you have shown us had been mind-blowingly awesome. Very impressive.
Cracking Helmets there Headstock....though I would expect nothing less ;)
I am loving seeing how you make these, Was you tempted to try and made the Brit-Cit one taller?

And of course I meant Heatshock... Should have checked the predictive text before posting :-[
Chicken drinker arrived....a warning to all you large headed types out there, 8l ain't big enough! Got 12l on order now too, as even without padding I only just fit into this one, and my nose is squished against the front, lol! May have to make the 8l one into a Murphyville lid then!
Just a word of warning.
I have built and worn various helmets for costuming. There's always a compromise. To 'look right' the helmets often sit small on ur head. The ones that sit comfortably on mine are ones with snouts eg biker scout or storm trooper for instance.
I have worn fett and various clone trooper helmets and they always are a snug fit. I have a 60 cm head circumference. I would say up to 60 cm, u'd be better with 8L, but almost certainly ur nose will be slightly squished on the front! If it's very squished like with Ghost, u might try a 12L.
I have tried on a 12L when searching for the right size, and although comfortable, is bobble headed and too wide on a person of my size.
Horses for course guys!
Nate
