Title: action figures
Post by: Misanthrope on 11 February, 2003, 11:25:11 AM
Am I the only one who would love to own a Judge Dredd/Johnny Alpha 12 inch action figure?

I would also love one, but only if it was done right by a company like Dragon, which IMO produces the most detailed 12" figures.

Personally I'd rather have had the second range of Re:Action figures made - Hershey, Mean Machine Angel, Rogue Trooper and the LawMaster Cycle. Nice.

An Action Man Dredd figure was released in Japan at the time of the movie. Cost around ?100 .
I'd love to see the Action figures continue, maybe in better quality like Tod McFarlanes line of Movie Maniacs.
When I asked Rebellion about continuing the line of action figures some time ago the reply was they didn't want to carry on, wanting to concentrate more on ''quality'' items such as the statues. Which apart from DR & Quinch have been pretty poor I think.

I wish they'd done action figures of Nemesis and Torquemada.

those action figures by DRAGON are damn good.
if they did a dredd one it would be superb, they are very popular out here,
sold in many adult computer game shops, and in the comic shops.
i would certainly want one by that company,

I forgot to say- I was at the NEC last week and there were some 2000 busts and wot-not on display.

I saw the mighty fine Alan Davis DR and Quinch- which was very good, and Judge Aderson (I think!  It was last week you know).

I think one of the best companies for 12" figures is a Japanese company called Marmit. I think Marmit may have been responsible for the movie Dredd mentioned here. They produced the 12" ESB Boba Fett figure which is flippin amazing. Theres a fair Dredd figure in the fan portfolio section. Im having a crack at a Dredd figure meself and Ill post it when its done.

I once made a Joe Pineapples action figure out of an old Spawn Nitro Rider figure I found laying around...

I think it was a company called medicom who did the movie dredd. they have also produced a 12 inch rocketeer which is just superb.

Nah - never really found the time to do any others. I did toy with the idea of doing a couple of other ABC Warriors (Deadlock maybe, or Blackblood), but Real Life tm and other projects took precedence.

Seeing as some of you seem to have a bit more know about these things;
I once chanced upon a pic of a really nice Alex/Clockwork Orange action-man type doll on the internet.
I was wondering if anyone knows if they were made commercialy? I think the one I saw was a one off

I wish. Id hazard a guess that it was Medicom again.

Nice Apples :-)

If they were to release more figures, I'd want the Reaction style ones.

Whatever happens, don't let MacFarlane get his grubby mits on them (it's not the quality of the statues that worries me), otherwise he might think he OWNS the copyright to all the characters!!!!

Is this the first time 2K action figures have been discussed without mentioning Floyd Kermode?

Ah its just a custom made one-off.
Surprised there isnt an official one.
If we can get serial killer dolls and nazis why cant we have an Alex?:(

Hi,
The figure your thinking of is from Medicom and still around but at a whopping ?120 or so. The likeness to Stallone is really good and the figure has a cloth uniform and accessories. Nice but far to expensive for me.

And you can check out some of these excellent Stikfas conversions of 2000AD characters by my good friend David Mason. Going to upload my own as soon as I get the chance to finish painting them.
