I don't even want to tell you how much I've spent on 2000AD this year, between flying home to go to the Dallas con just on the total whim that I wanted Urban to read America and getting my nails done Rogue Trooper-style, it's been a lot :) Well, apparently I decided that constantly shipping things from the UK and buying up back issues of the prog isn't good enough, so of course naturally the next step was to spend even more money on making custom apparel and crafts.
This are some ideas I drew up mostly around the idea that there really aren't super cute options for girls to wear on display ::)
Looking to get my friend to help me screenprint this Chief Judge shirt. And the Rogue scarf I'm trying to make using batik (resist dye) methods. Both of which I have no experience, so we'll see.

This would take some pretty crazy effort involving digital embroidery (my friend has a digital embroidery machine but I have no idea if this is even possible) but the idea is a zippered shirt with the movie style badge and shoulders embroidered on it.
Anyways, the helm from the first image is currently in progress as a knitted beanie from a girl on Etsy. I did a quick turnaround doodle below. Obviously entire helm has been moved up towards the top of the head as I do want to be able to see where I am going :) The great thing is that the non-black areas of the helm are being knitted separately so when attached, the beanie will have some depth to it. Who knows how it'll turn out but I'll probably be psyched either way and wear it every day this winter.

The tassels are just for fun and will look kinda like this:

If it turns out good, I might get a version of Helm which works better technically because of the straps that drop down on the sides of Rogue's head.
I'd definitely wear one of the beanies, I think it's pretty cool! haha.
You need to talk to Tharg about licensing and to your friend about upscaling her production capacity, because absolutely everybody here would buy that beanie. Offering a tassle-free option might be an idea.
Sauchie is correct, that is one fine woolly bucket, and no-one needs it more than the folicularly-challenged core fanbase of the Galaxy's Greatest. But don't fail to heed the lessons of the saga of Jayne's hat (http://www.buzzfeed.com/ellievhall/firefly-hat-triggers-corporate-crackdown#1fpm3az)!
Utterly brilliant mimikeke - !
More of this sort of thing :D
I would buy that beanie in a flash AND buy it for all my kids. Great work M.

If they're for yourself and your friends I doubt there'd be much problem. Issues arise if you want to sell them and make money. But they are great designs.
oh no, this is definitely for myself, no sales.
although if it all turns out good, I'll share info on how to make or who I commissioned it from.

Shut up, man ...
I want my hat, and if Mimi has to wear orange as a consequence, that's just too bad.
good to know you are watching out for me
just wondering what the policy would be say, if I did end up making, say, 10 tees but only sold them for base cost (no profit)

The policy would be a very definite 'no', I'm afraid.
it's ok, saves me work in the end :p
i AM curious how people get away with selling prints?

So are we.
okay so she didn't get it quiiiiiiiiiite correct with the images I sent her (esp the thickness and facing of the SS highlights) but close enough!!!
To be fair, neither of the film versions could manage to get the visor flashes right either, and they cost millions. Cute hat, and a true one-off.
hah good point. I might try knitting my own beanie with a tighter knit for more fidelity. But that'd prolly take like, a year :)
Lovely work mimikeke, think I'll see whether my mother may have the ability to produce a couple for my daughters.
Can you do a Rogue Trooper Helm, complete with Biochip, that's what I want to know! To replace my tattered biochip beanie ASAP, seeing as weather control are going to seasonally decrease the temperature shortly.

Nice idea
Hopefully my mother could pull this off because my wife's just come up with the idea of one for all the family, four of us wandering the British streets in winter with warm Judge heads, happy days...
So I got the hat in the mail today...perfect for #dayofdredd :)
First off when I opened the package a million paper hearts fell out :P

The great thing is while I intentioned it to be more square like the IDW helm, it ended up being round at the top and flared at the sides like the old original helm. You can pull it over the eyes too, even if it doesn't quite fit my husband :D As you can see in the last pic, it's quite thick and sturdy! Good purchase. I was thinking about getting a Rogue helm but I might just end up 3d printing the biochips and sticking it on my own hat and backpack.

WAAAAAANT.
Visor flashes look absolutely fine in use. Gods what a wonderful piece of kit. To paraphrase Melvin Udall, "it makes me want to be a better knitter".
It looks brilliant in the flesh and your hubby really suits those pigtails ;)
Hahaha!! cutest thing ever!
Oh man I want one of those.

:D :D
I know it was a bit blasphemous to put the tassels on but after looking at some other examples I thought it looked more like a winter hat in the end. Not that we really have winter here in SF, it gets to be about 65F and people start crying if it rains at all.
