Title: Can't place a Dredd page - I think its Barry Kitson
Post by: matty_ae on 22 September, 2014, 09:31:48 PM
Hi I'm looking for a page that I think is by Barry Kitson

Dredd is dealing with a Lizard (like finishing up / tieing up) whilst there's a beautiful female judge by his side (but not anderson)

if it is Barry it would be 460s or nearby but I don't have the issues

help - If Ive imagined this it was a great page

Sorry, I can't think of any stories where Dredd fights a lizard man, illustrated by Barry Kitson

Ah The Brainstem Man.  And some call this period the Golden Age of the strip, as all those pre-Necropolis threads start to pull tighter.  And The Brainstem Man.

Fuck you and your ... cleverness. It was obviously a pish story, but that was Wee Me's introduction to the neurological/evolutionary model of the mind as a human brain squatting upon a monkey brain, atop a reptile brain. Later on, when you come across Freud's theoretical description of the id, ego, and super-ego, the correspondence between those two models will blow your own (monkey) mind.

Continuity fans would have been impressed by the way The Brain-stem Man functioned as a prologue to the Anderson story Helios. Continuity fans would.

I preferred it when it was called Blood of Satanus.

Is it pronounced Sa-Tan-Us or Satan-Us?

I use the former.

Ah
Before I have time to thank anyone, it descends into filth!

Anyone good enough to post a scan of the page?

Sorry, Matty; I was so certain The Brainstem Man was the story in question I never bothered to check I wasn't talking shite. Turns out I was. I and the rest of the Hivemind will revert to the process of letting our subconscious minds deliver the answer to your question while we're doing some mundane, unrelated task. Never comes to you if you concentrate too hard on the matter, does it?

Are you thinking of 'A Total Near Death Experience'? (Prog 629) That's a Barry Kitson one which begins with Dredd restraining a fanged figure, though I wouldn't call him a lizard. And there is indeed a beautiful female Judge nearby - but it is Anderson:
