Great, great price... But (isn't there always) git to say the colours look jarringly bright. Sort of like 4 colour comics made real. Sam was always grittier in my mind.

Likely there will be a 24hr limited B&W one on 3As own site (like Death).. Will ask and see what they say.

Of all the announced figures, I was least excited about Sam - but that is a great, great figure. Really good likeness too!

Like that.

Would a B/W one just be offered to 3A members or just to those who go to the site in the first 24hs?

Don't know if Sam will appreciate getting robotic arms   :o

But, a very nice figure. That likeness is pure Gibson! Colours don't bother me either.

I've asked on their forums if there will be a B/W one. They are pretty good at answering.

The Death B/W was only available for 24hrs but was not 'membership exclusive'. They stated on the old forums (now defunct) that any future variants would NOT be 'membership exclusives'. Although they also stated that there was no guarentee that each figure would have a variant.

I thought the same - that blue cap with the trim looks more majorette than trucker's cap

Not something that normally turns my head but that is nice, very nice.

Unexpected and awesome. Does it come with a Stogie?

From Gregory (the 3A guy leading the 2000ad line):

Those are some early paint test photos, seeing what he and the clothing look like under different lighting. We'll have some much more polished and dynamic photos this weekend. And of course he'll be chomping on Stogie

I looked at a lot of the covers for ideas for the paint scheme, he's either seen in primary colors or drab browns. I love the cover of Prog 263, so the colors are primarily based on that one. We really wanted him to pop and stand out. Some things might change slightly, be a bit more faded, but for the most part this is him.

I'm personally very happy with how he turned out. Getting his face was not an easy task and took a lot of revisions, but I think we really nailed the jaw, the chin, and cheeks. He looks so great in profile view. We recently changed the pants material so that they are a lot tighter too, get him closer to that Ian Gibson silhouette.

No plans for a black & white edition at the moment, but you never know, anything is possible..

Stogie or a stogie?  Seeing as Cutie was gone by the time Stogie came along :-(  In a perfect Robo-world they'd have both been around at the same time though (unless Millar was writing it).

A Robo-Stogie.
So, Stogie.

(Stated on the old defunct forums)

Time I learnt how to make me a Hoagy out of tinfoil, yup.

From Gregory, on my facebook page

QuoteRobo-Hunter is 6inches (15.24cm), in addition to the blaster and Cutie, he'll also come with Stogie. We'll have some more dynamic photos up this weekend.

Pre-order on Bambaland April 30th and at retailers a bit later on. We'll update the blog with all the info once we get the new photos in. Dates might be subject to change

I might this time too.

The arms look a bit strange, but I think thats to do with the level of articulation on a thin wiry physique. Looks good on robots, cos you know they ould actually look that way, but on organic characters it looks odd cos you know that stuff would be under the skin.

It didn't look so odd on Death because his arms were covered.

This isn't a criticism really though. It's just the thing that happens with action figures with this level of articulation.

The changes mentioned (addition of stogie in particular) are welcome, and I hope they go for a more muted palette, but I think I'll get this regardless. The price seems a good deal less than Judge Death, (although still expensive for a figure this size but considering everything, shipping, etc, still not too bad)  which is nice.

Not a lot you can do with articulating bare arms on a figure I'm afraid - you either make them immovable, or maybe some kind of rubber sleeve.

It's always going to be a compromise I'm afraid.

Oh, I undrstand that. An observation rather than a moan.

I think its a little more noticeable due to the rangy nature of the character.

The Sam Slade figure has gone on sale early on Bambaland but it's crashing like buggery!

Good luck folks!

Managed to buy one after 12 hours being locked out.

My advise to anyone trying to buy is leave about 2 minutes between each step in the process... I've each time you do something that would cause a new page to load.

The site is being hit by spammers and so refresh / quick clicks are setting off the anti spam devices... Resulting in people getting locked out mid buy... So space out your clicks.

Great looking toy and a fantastic price shipped atm.

What's going on, I ordered mine on my phone and had no trouble whatsoever.
At least it's not a limited time release!

Couldn't get on the site for about three hours but got there in the end.
Mrs Albion is getting it for my birthday. (It will arrive long after the event).

Christmas I reckon. My birthday is very soon so hopefully it won't be a year away.
Now......where's Judge Death got to?

Ordered!

The delivery option was "Online Delivery / No Shipping."

I'm not sure what that means. Hoping it means there is "no shipping cost"* as was the case with Mongrol.

I had no difficulty ordering on my phone. Only small issue (apart from above) is that after going through PayPal process it took me back to the payment screen rather than an order confirmed screen.

I did receive an order confirmed email and a paypal receipt, so I think it all went through.

Yeah, a decent price when considering quality of figure and shipment. Looking forward to pitting this fella against Mongrol on top of my bookshelf cabinet.**

*Or more accurately it's all covered by the price you see.

**Robohunter or not, I don't think he'll last long against the big metal ape.
Piu! Piu!

I haven't bought either thus far, but I would jump at a Hammerstein figure. Don't ussualy get in for these types of thing but that would be lovely.

Other means is all I'd most likely ever consider, tbh.

And speaking of such, a certain Octopus seems rather grand..
