Title: After a Rare Graphic Novel.....
Post by: ThryllSeekyr on 29 June, 2015, 12:29:49 PM
This keeps happening to me, but while I was going through my huge collection of books, I found that I could find this rare and old graphic novel I had ordered through Ebay years ago.

Before I scream THIEF!!!!!!!......

I will remind you all that this is a graphic novel that Pat Mills recommended to Mike MacMahon or Glen Fabry when he first commisoned them to draw for him in Slaine.

I'm not too sure which one, but I thought it was Glen, because the art work in it looks very similar to his. yet, it could have ben the other guy, because I was pretty sure this was mentioned in one of the forward sections of the latest and most relevant graphic novels. Time-Killer, The King, Demon-Killer, Warrior-Beyond-Time and haven't bother checking Warriors-dawn yet. It wouldn't be in any of later novels because I did more than a few years ago now.

The novel in question is called BLANK (Insert forgotten word from title here)...-BATTLES) and it's the size of small to medium poster with both the front and back soft cardboard covers detached. They had come loose before they got to me. These were second hand and they came to me from Penrith, Sydney, New South Wales

The story itself was kind of like set in the old world in neo-biblical times, possibly before the great floods and characters like Conan or Slaine would not have felt out of place in this book.

I either want mine back or a another one.

I really hate being at the mercy of sneaky folk who like to lift things that are not tied down and also know how to get inside my families house without my permission.

I find this really annoying, because I would love to flick through it now. Looking for some inspiration and want this one back or another one.

Would be nice I can reclaim this huge volume again, preferably one in better condition than the last.
The one I got was the only one I found and it's also annoying that I don't have a cluse as to author and artist for it as well as the full name of it either.

My large hard back edition of the graphic novel, the inspiration for the film.... 300. I think Frank Miller was the author has also gone missing.

Did you know that Time-Killer doesn't have a forward section....

Is this correct or have they put it in some part of book I can't find?

Looking through Ebay now....

Mine again...but I think I got cheated....

Old-Soft-Cover-Edition....

New-hard-Back-Edition

I think the newer version has some bonus material, but I'm not so sure if it's been made as large as the original. At $65 (AUD) I though Amazon hated me when I was shown the four dollar, but used versions of the original and a brand new one at just over $130 . I only found this right after I had purchased mine.

Bastards.

Yeah, I understand what you mean, but I found it hiding in place on the same bookshelf where I never expected it. It's like that.....couldn't be helped if I did that way before.

I got the replacement and so called new improved version via mail order earlier this week and had good look through just now....

Guess who wrote the post-face?

Still reading that now, because just can't process large chunks that much information...even if it's just one page and his name was at the bottom of the back cover.

I still prefer the original book which has thankfully reappeared.

Something is lost with this later version, after the colourisation and page shrinkage.

Not sure If I will start reading it, but do always remember parts of it and immediatelly looked for the bit where a slaver gets strangled by the two slaves he was walking over small hill on the desert plains all alone or apparently so.

Seeing that and what the dialoge also reiterates is this age old buddy system and how not being alone or supported that way you think and with that I understand that we, all of you and me are strangers that may not benefit from this arrangement so seamlessly ever, but I go on and not that I think of every single person I deal with as a slave when I hand over money for their time and services.

Is it really nessesary (Never been able to spell this word without checking first.....) to put everybody in this position in shackles like this character in the book didn't at the point in the story despite my lack of need to read the entire book first to truly understand that there is more going on than numbers.

Anytime this attitude is reflected in a lot of things that has happened to me already in real life and even in computer games.

I think I feel so moved by this scene that I might have to invest in a pack of guard dogs, but can I trust the people who would give them to me?

Back to reading now and then playing later....
