Title: 2000 Anime
Post by: Mudcrab on 09 January, 2002, 08:42:34 PM
I'll start by stating that I'm NOT an Anime freak as such (there's some sick stuff out there!).

With all the talk of films etc and who to use, I've thought for a while that the perfect medium for both ABC WARRIORS and NEMESIS would be Japanese style animation, especially Nemesis with so much weirdness going on. The Japs would surely go for the 'fit inducing flashy robot' side of it, plus you could easily depict the massive amounts of destruction and carnage required. What does the populace think???

BIG JOBS!!!

Hey, Doug. Don't be quite so hasty to knock anime -much as with manga, it covers a vast variety of genres, from tennis to tentacle porn. And things that don't start with 't', natch.

I agree that ABC Warriors (especially The Black Hole / Khronicles of Khaos) would definitely lend itself to a CGI / animated movie, a la Final Fantasy / Bubblegum Crisis.

Nemesis, I'm not so sure about, as I suspect that the major themes of the story would be a bit lost amongst destruction and flashing stuff.

Yeah, but all the metaphysical and spiritual stuff is definite Manga territory, as is the sadistic nazi/inquisition despotic regime.

Personally I thing Strontium Dog and Durham Red would both make awesome Manga heroes, and the Quitely Shimura stuff seems like an obvious one too...

Noo, I'm not knocking it at all. I'm not averse to sick stuff really (listening to Slipknot as we speak :-) . thought Legend of the Overfiend was fantastic, if a little dodgy in places.

Absolutely! Plus the trademark 'background zooming past' would be perfect for termight chases.

Point taken; I think, though, that it would need extreemly careful handling, lest it go the way of Urotsukidoji (sp.?)...
