Title: The Tomorrow People / Shed con
Post by: Quirkafleeg on 18 March, 2003, 05:30:32 PM
Well after weeks of 'I've got to get around to looking at this...' every time I see the triple dvd of The Tomorrow People I won at the Shedcon raffle I've started watching it...

... terrible terrible wooden acting, a boring mogadon plot, vile CSO, the worse plinky plonky music, really crap 'stunts', totally unfunny 'comic relief' ...

I'm having a great time!

2 episodes down, 11 to go (plus extras...)

I'm sure I'm only doing it coz Logan reckoned I'd never watch it all.

Or because you'd have to get those 1500 words done ;)

I barely remember the show and remember it being spooky and atmospheric.  I suspect that was just the titles and the rest was rubbish.  Am I right?

Thought it was going to be ShedCon 1.5 - a proper ShedCon has to co-incide with DreddCon.

Well past 15mins Art! Though one episode at time is about all I can handle... How much of Black Samuraii have you managed?

The titles are a zoomy trip man! No wonder 70s kid never needed drugs or alcho-pops... them titles and a can of Top Deck would leave you a acid casualty for the next decade

1500 words... we're getting there...

Aieee! Not sure if I'm going to Bristol yet.

I suppose at the next *proper* Shedcon, i.e. the night before Dreddcon, I'll stick in the art for the poster that'll I'll end up doing if people want me to (or I'll just force it upon the weakest willed attendee). Although this year, it'll be on some nice Bristol Board instead of the bog paper that I used last year. :)

Wils - Unofficial artist of unofficial mini-convention, 'Shedcon'

p.s. Cheers, Paul

I've got a Chimera from Zenith action figure (unofficial merchendise). Possibly some vintage comics too unless I flog 'em in the meantime.

I've got a couple of things that could be given away too.

1.5 or the Summer Special? Both good names to me.

& I can compose a hideous dischordant theme tune on my banjo.  Not that I'm likely to make it down from the debatable lands.  Huh.

Right one disk down, two to go...

Highlight so far is the most piss-poor robot I've ever seen

Right that's all three disk watched

Disk 2: Dire: Highlights: The Green cross code man, in a nappy, painted silver all over and the worse monster I've seen on TV bar none.

Disk 3: Shock horror, not that bad! Highlights - Stock-footage a-go-go, someone reading a comic (Hey Diddle Diddle), 'Clachton' peer and 'one for the dads' a gorgeous dolly-bird bad girl in short shorts! Phwooor!

Now I gotta do it all again with the commentaries!

What a rich cultural history sci-fi has.

Incidentally why are the worst monsters usually ones from the sea or lagoons.

But... it... hurts...

That woman was walking down the street for what felt like five hours before they kidnapped her, with nothing really happening, and then that tedious, tedious, poolside conversation with the non-actors...

Dubbing? Dubbing? What Dubbing! We'll just have everyone with their back to the camera or in long shot every time they speak...

Watch it, you know you want to...

Right that's it, all the commemtaries listened extras read etc...

Thanks again Logan... commentary gets a bit repetative and some of the eps are very slow but still great for nowt... if I had the cash/time I'd be tempted to buy the next one in the series as apprently the story is a cracker
