So it seems to be the done thing on this board to post photos when you get a new bookshelf in your life. Here's mine!

It has that oh so lovely bit of extra space for adding extra volumes. I'm especially pleased to get more room for the Case Files, which had completely maxed out a shelf on my old cheap freestanding job.

Technically they're my big brother's Fighting Fantasy books, but he's in Japan and is unlikely to be pestering me for them soon...
(And the Fourth Sorcery book is there, just hiding behind the inset on the left. Did anyone ever complete all four of those books? Insanely difficult! I vaguely remember cheating my way through the first two before giving up)

Shamutanti Hills is my favourite gamebook ever, followed closely by City of Thieves. Third place is tricky - I like aspects of Scorpion Swamp (by the USA Steve Jackson), Caverns of the Snow Witch, Forest of Doom, Firetop Mountain...

Diceman is on a different continuum for me, so I don't have to try to choose between them. Also - I only ever played the first Lone Wolf book, and it was way later than Fighting Fantasy for me, so as much as I appreciated it, it doesn't have the added nostalgia factor for me.
I'm a big House of Hell fan, myself, closely followed by Deathtrap Dungeon. And I had a surprising amount of fun with Appointment with F.E.A.R., although a lot of that was down to the Brian Bolland cover.
Diceman came out at just the right time for me, and I wonder if that's actually my favourite 'choose your own adventure' series of all. Mostly because the comics format made it much easier to just read it through rather than actually playing it out. House of Death is definitely the best, and Torquemada in 'Garden of Earthly Delights' remains a mind-warping favourite. The pig-lady and the dwarf knight haunted my dreams for quite a few years.

As soon as I saw a 'best Fighting Fantasy' book discussion, I immediately thought 'House of Hell' - it seems I am not alone. Relentlessly nasty, like 'The Devil Rides Out' turned up to 11. Also fond of 'Beneath Nightmare Castle', with its Lovecraftian horribleness - it was the inspiration for a whole RPG campaign I once ran. Creature of Havoc is another absolute classic - I loved the complex backstory - but I don't think I ever finished that one.
Easiest ones? Robot Commando (by a fairly wide margin) and Demons of the Deep.
