If there is a chemical or biological attack, anyone know what the "life" of these chemicals are? How long before an attacked area is safe again?
I belive the area will have to be "cleaned", didnt anthrax island in Scotland last for 20 or so years?!?
More questions:
1. They said on the radio (Xfm) that we weren't at war, but that they'd made an assassination attempt on Saddam.
Is sending attack planes to kill the political leader of another country not classed as an act of war?
2. Why did we bother ending the Gulf war 12 years ago? Aren't we just back to square one?
3. How long does it take a missile to fly from the Middle East to the UK?
Bah, you stay up till 2 waiting for something to happen, and then it kicks off.
The so called "decapitation attack" was pretty crappy looking as well. Wheres our shock and awe? eh? eh?
2/10 - a limp start for a war.
Odd: I didn't think Saddam had anything that was powerful enough to reach UK from Iraq.
But if he did, how come if he attacks UK or the US, it's classed as an act of terrorism, but if US/UK attack Iraq, it's war?
1. An assanation attempt its not quite day of the jackal is it? Sending 6 cruise missiles to places he might be.
2. I dont think we did, our exclusion of airspace and the sanctions, the iraqis must think theyve been at war for 12 years
3. Whose gonna fire one with that range? Irag have them that travel 110km rather than 99Km?!?
Yer Slippo
Did everyone see Colonel Bustass (or whatever) telling the troops "its hammertime" ? Oh dear god.
The Mcdonalds will probably be in the center of bahgdad before the bloody soldiers are.
"Just in time for the world famous big mac boys!"
i geuss we are lucky france is not the home of DHL then, they would likely help out with the whole distance thing and let him track it in real time online.
but limp start.yeh i was expecting a whole division of hover wagons sweeping in over the city, huge sov produced tanks and troop carriers and lots of troops, i geuss i have been into comics a bit to long.
of course if things do not go according to plan, we could always send bucsh a few copies of the dredd epics, plenty of pointers in them for him.

Ice Ice baby!

It wouldn't be terrorism. You have to be technically stateless to be a 'terrorist', and Iraq's a sovereign state.
But rationales for justifying slaughter are strange at best.
Hey, I used to work for DHL- before they made me redundant- Bastards!
Maybe Saddam should use them :-)
Okay,(us fire fighters get to do the nice jobs like this..thanks guys, mmm ?6.20 an hour to be anthraxed, burnt & gore spattered, great). chemical & biological contaminants are a proverbial minefield ! basically the emergency services have an emergency expert on the other end of the phone who will advise. We carry basic cards with us which tell roughly what not to do with what chemicals. The effects can vary infinitely. what ya wanna do is once contaminated, stay put, DO NOT spread it, await advice, a decontam zone will be set up, you will be scrubbed with brooms & brushes in a makeshift pool, you will be stripped & ushered to the next outer zone, you will obay instructions, you will be doomed.
Well being a nuclear physicist and all, Ive got tons of radiation/contamination protection stuff! Tee-hee! See you all in hell suckers!
Actually thats all blatant lies. All I have is a certificate saying Ive attended a basic course in radiation protection. Hmmm. Itll stop alpha particles at any rate...
"They said on the radio (Xfm) that we weren't at war"
We've been at war since the start of the Gulf War - after all, we've been bombing them non-stop for 12 years.
Bush's ultimatum was a rip-off of Chamberlain's old speech about sending a letter to the German ambassador saying that unless we received an assurance of a withdrawl from Poland a state of war would exist blah blah blah.
Basically, he said "Here's the deadline, if you're now out by then - it's war. nuff said. cowboy. Where's mother?"
So it's war. Whatever they say.
I wwon't be political anymore, i promise. Well, maybe a little.
I think this just a prologue to the main event... but a bit of damp squib...
Oh and jets overhead this lunchtime and I saw a military convoy this morning.
Get at 'em!
The 'expert' on R&J yesterday advised having carrying a spare set of clothes around with you sealed in a plastic bag. And take your contact lenses out if 'attacked'
Other advice when she has been on the past included go upstairs as most of the toxins used will be heavier than air.
Duct tape repels chemical attacks, so stay near roadies at all times.
DUCK & COVER!!
Unfortunately roadies also emit odours far more harmful than most forms of biological agent....
The Irish government just today approved an idea to set of a ring of explosives in the sea and thus push Britain a safe distance away from us in case yiz get attacked.
About damn time too!
J.
Really? I don't remember reading that in my Irish Times. Maybe it got lost in all that stuff about that country Iran and its leader Osama Hussein.
