not that i'm exited or anything.
But I'm getting trained up tomorrow in fighting fires by helicopter;
a) i go on a little bouncy helicopter, with the doors off.
b) i might meet a certain statuesque Dredd chinned instructor again. sigh.
Its a hard job..... but somebodys gotta do it.

though i wish to point out.
you seem to lead a very mundane life dont you . helicopter rides.fire fighting.rally cars.2000ad reading.
why dont you get yourself a real hobby like sitting or dish washing or something you can really get your self into. :~)

Just remember you'll be skimming through the air on the equivalent of an areodynamic anvil held up by a big fan driven by a a highly stressed turbine that has thousands of intricate little bits all whizzing round, the failure of any one of which could introduce you to a lesson in freefall techniques. Not that you should worry. I'm sure it's perfectly safe...
I don't much hold with helicopters myself. Not since they strapped me into one and dropped it into a big tank of water in Aberdeen. A traumatic experience on any number of levels I'm sure you will agree.

I'M BACK !!
guess what it was like..unbelievabley COOL !
we were supposed to be only going on the chopper once, but cos i was happy happy joy joy, & numbers were short i got volunteered to go on the second exercise. which meant 3 goes, & twice i got to sit on outside (no doors !) sideyways banking etc. & i also got designated to be a water bucker & netted loads hooker & unhooker, which means standing still & beconing to the copter to hover above you & lower a big wieghted hook...or tonne load...arghhh scary..but COOL !!!
and then there was lots of well cool people there, every firefighter & their uncle, met a nice nother ladie fighter who was COOL & not an ugly bag with chip on shoulder like the others ive met. & the handsom instructor too...sigh.
Its a tough job but somebodys gotta do it !
I will upload photos a.s.a.p... but i'm out boozing just now....
