calling all north of boarder...no the geographical one not this one...dude,
any opinions about what the scottish parliament could be doing to help businessed in the scottish rural economy geez yur rants...cos Craig anderson, reporting scotland is doing a piece with me in, wot with me being Queen n'all.. so get on that high horse, for i intend to !
Nobody has replied to this, so I thought I would put it back at the top of the board for you!
any chance you could slip the debate on a Cornish Assembly in there for me?
no? thought not. worth trying,
thanks for that Rac ! but i don't mind, As the Goddess of off-topic & personal trumpet blowing , i don't really expect feed back, just collective groans of .."ohh she's off again..."
cornish assembly? i will certainly try ! i'm certainly gonni squeeze housing in there... local businesses depending on thriving & sustainable communities with intergrated infrastructure n'all. what else... ah yes the lack of comic shops in the rural areas is disgusting, i will get that in too...
Funny really, you all the way up there, us all the way down here and yet many of the problems are the same.
funny, but yet not ....
shall we have a revolution ?
Infrastructures! The wind farms need decent power lines connected to the national Grid, or they're doomed to fail...
Active support for local materials/businesses to build/ rebuild houses using local slate, stone timber frames (initial high cost but saves on haulage etc, more local employment)
Free solar panels for any of the national grid, its cheaper that connecting.
Support for 'Community supported Agriculture' see recent Reforesting Scotland issue/article hope (i've done the link right)
rant over and out,
The Midden pussed one

At least you can vote for the people in charge!
Over here (N. Ireland), we cannot vote for the Labour or Tories. Not that many would, but we don't even have that choice.
Hmm, I'm a north boarder, so I'll do my best, although I'm guessing.
I'd imagine a reduction in fuel tax would be a good thing, given petrol prices in the more rural areas, especially the highlands. The delivery companies obviously charge more hence higher prices, but ultimately, a tax reduction could help that (or more of a rebate really). Not very likely, but something to aim for. It's something that probably affects a hell of a lot of small businesses in Scotland. Bloody cheek too seeing as most of it's drilled for, produced and refined here! I'm not saying they should have cheaper fuel than England, just the same as urban areas.
Umm, broadband! There's a current and topical issue. I'm from Inverurie originally (near Aberdeen) and I've heard that they can't get it there yet, which is a bit of a shock to me. Not enough takers etc, companies demanding people sign up for it before it even exists and things like that. I imagine there's a lot of other places in the whole of Britain in the same boat, but that's for them to shout at their gov about I suppose.
Hey, I'm getting good at this!
Cheers,
SD
yeahhh ! yur all so cool..
cheers for comments, heres my rough list so far... whats the bet that cos i'm being so demorcratically organised i get 2 seconds of me saying " er..um... like ..youknow...stuff for the people ?"

Hi Bou, what about raising the subject of making oil from other sources apart from fossil fuel? Diesel engines will run on vegetable oil and petrol engines could be run on vegetable ethanols i.e. wood alchohol - these could easily be domestically produced, why some people even make their own, and it's just f#ckin nuts that we're here in the year 2003 not only driving around in these fossil fuel burning antiques but also blowing each other up for the right to do so! Fume! Seethe!
Might not be the sort of thing you're looking for in that it's not that specific to Scotland, I dunno kind of ties in with the rural petrol prices thing a bit? And a sustainable, renewable technology too...

will you be wearing those boots?
Y'know, everytime I see that icon I get flashbacks.

HAMMERTIME!
While you're at it Bou, you couldn't get them to enforce repeats of Absolutely could you?

All together now...

Flashbacks?
What, from the last time you looked in the mirror?!
A very good point. Huge area that has yet to be properly used. I think you can safely blame the oil companies for that. Especially America. Thing is, it'd be cheaper for us, but the way America works, they keep the fossil fuels dirt cheap for their own.
Was reading Michael Moore's recent letter to Bush, and nearly choked at the part when he whinged "Gas nearly $2". And that's bad???? Grud on a Greenie!!! (ooooh, topical AND conservational :o). Don't you feel sorry for them ????
Just shows how we're screwed by the gov. Of course they'll say they're protecting the environment. Suuuuuure.
so first we shoot the polititians then the landowners yes?
umm...YES!
Number 4 cartridge!
well the good news is they never got back to me so i'm spared from making a tit of myself by the looks.
the bad news is, i never got a chance to have a good rant & i bet they interviewed that fashist cowbag from the community council instead.. Grrr so i'll be watching reporting scotland with my rage warping restraint harness on then.
pff, feeling militant & frustrated, Bou'
ARgghhhhhh !!
they came , they filmed, i muttered a load of twaddle. i failed to save the universe, well his questions were.. you know... if only he'd asked me "should the scottish parliament save the universe?"
tsk, and it was too cold for my j.death tea-shirt,
but if you live in scotland & wanna see me throw the worst pot ever thrown & talk pants & look like i ain't been getting my beauty sleep..

Monday 7th tea time.
repeat. arghhhhhh !
Well know doubt someone can tape it a rip it and get an mpeg on the site...
Nooooooooooooooooooooo !!!
Don't worry about it Bou, I know the feeling.
I was interviewed for a radio news programme before. No problem, I thought, I'll say this and this and this, easy.
But when the time came it went something like 'AAARRGGhhhh...Dennnis uuglieee.'
if you dont like it, ya can leave the country !
7th eh? Grand! I'd usually be watching Reporting Scotland anyway, oops sorry, onyway :o)
I'll forgo the joy of trying to stuff foodstuffs into sprogs to see this, but it will be a fight if it clashes with their watching the Simpsons, god, the things I do for boarders...
