There isn't any.  We just live to go to work so that we can earn enough money to pay the bills, tax our cars and fill them full of petrol so that we can drive ourselves to work.

It's a vicious cycle.

"It's a vicious cycle."

But as anyone with testicles will inform you, not as vicious as this little bugger...

"Ooyah!"

Cheer up, James.

What's green and eats nuts?
Gonorrhoea.

What's the difference between a woman and a sheep?
A sheep won't complain if you have sex with her sister.

I have lots more, even sicker ones. If you won't be offended, sendmail me and I'll reply with INCREDIBLY SICK jokes.

whats the point ?
pahhh .. to do some good in the world
to help other people & spread a little sunshine; to fight against all the badness & proove that self determination & individual acts can overcome the burdens of the day.;
to try & protect the future for the children to come ; to try & understand the way it all is; to kick ass & boldly sieze the moment; to live for each second as if it were the only moment you have; to teach; to heal; to learn; to raise good children; to create stuff; to love & be loved & of course...
to read comix

tsk ,you cynics.

heres a motivational tree photo, what i took yesterday. there don't you all feel nicer now?

James, what makes you think there is one?

Go plant a tree with your bare hands,  years to come you go past and go, hey thats one of mine...

Find a five year old bairn to take to the zoo, threaten to leave em in the monkey house, always cheers me up

A twisted Treehugger

How do you know it's a motivational tree? Was it wearing sweatbands and going "work those buns, baby!"?

Or maybe I should just shut up ...

perhaps the point is that their is no point...

Exactly.  It's all this striving towards a point that is doing everyone's heads in.

As far as I can work out it's all supremely pointless, revel in it & enjoy it, it's all we've got.

Make the world a better place where you can, what have you got to lose?

sartre believed that in a world without god the reason you dont kill yourself is your reason to exist.

we exist for 2000ad ?

Post by: Noisybast on 06 April, 2003, 06:53:18 PM
So, the reason I exist is because ceasing to do so will probably hurt and some poor sod will have to clear up my mess?
Title: Re: What's the point?
Post by: karne on 06 April, 2003, 06:54:02 PM
There is a point to everything, but sometimes we can't see it because we are to busy looking for some deeper meaning.

The point is to collect all the pills without getting eaten by the ghosts, so you can progress to the next level. Beyond that I can't really haelp.

We are talking about Pacman, right?

As far as I can tell, the point is to collect all the pills without getting eaten by the ghosts, so you can progress to the next level, where the ghosts will be faster. Beyond that I can't really help.

More to the point did you really post that twice or did your perception change to allow for the fact you believed you had?

Did we all then see it as an almost identical post because you convinced us that it was?

There are three schools of thought on this subject...

1) We exist only to reproduce, raise our young and then die as quickly as possible.

2) We exist to live good lives, help others and better ourselves to reach heaven.

3) Life is meaningless. Leave me alone. I hate you. I can do what I want.

I'm general people believe (2) initially, briefly turn over to (3) during teenage years and choose (1) when it suits them.

Actually I've slid towards three meself over the past three years... gentle spirit being crushed and all that...

I reach a state between 1) and 2) at weekends and once thought I'd reached 4) but realised I was just very very hungry...

Essentially yes. prtaking of 2 would also lead to fulfillment.

In order words you're miserable because you havent decided what your life is supposed to represent.
