Think this is the last of these???
While other stories come and go Dredd is always there and always of a certain standard. So in reviewing the year he can't be ignored. As such we've given him his own category. Across both Prog and Meg (combined vote) what has been your favourite Dredd tales. We're not looking at size we're looking at quality here. So doesn't matter if it's one parter, or an epic (see Alex F's definition) which have you enjoyed the most?
I'm going to provide a list in my next couple of posts in a sec of all the Dredd stories, well those in the Prog or Meg - I'll try to get Specials as well, but not subsidiary stuff like IDW etc etc - over the last year - please let me know if I've missed any. Oh and I'm going to include Cadet Dredd, stuff as its the Regened Dredd so I think it counts and if you don't, don't vote for it!
Format is easy. Simply look at the list in the next post - and post your top three in a reply to this thread - just make sure to clearly indicate your order using the format below - with the points awarded for each placing:
(1st, foremost and best) = 5 points
(2nd runner up) = 3 points
(Bronze who cares really) = 1 point
If you don't make it clear I'll award all your mentioned votes 3 points each.
The vote will run for a week and I'll announce the winner early shall we say Friday 8th January... hopefully...
If you have any questions just ask and I'll wing it as normal...

Dredd Tales in the Prog
Look as I've said I'm lazy so I'm only listing writer and main artist(s) not letterers or colourist... it's not that I don't value them its that I'm bone idle...
Look, I know I said that last year that I'll list them but, if truth be told, not only did real life got in the way of things, I'm also lazy/bone idle as well!!
Also, quick question, What is The Immigrant? What's it all about??
The Immigrant was a Dredd story in the 2000AD sci-fi special with a special guest star
Zombo
. The story was written by Al Ewing he created
Zombo
with art by Jake Lynch.
Ah, I see. Thanks and hope you have a Happy New Year!!
1. The Relic
2. Chimpsky's Law
3. End of Days
It's actually very difficult to measure the epic End of Days against the plethora of shorter Dredd stories, but it definitely deserves a top 3 place.
Nearly impossible to chose...
1 Victims of Bennett Beeny
2 End of Days
3 Kill Bloopy
1. Victims of Bennett Beeny
2. Hair of the dog.
3. The immigrant
Damn these are tough. Okay here I'll go
1st Chimpsky's Law
2nd The Victims of Bennett Beeny
3rd The Immigrant
Strange to think the only Wagner story of the year is struggling to break into my top 3.
01. Cold Case. Niemand wrote the lion's share of this year's Dredd and this was his best. Combining Mega City history (the Apocalypse War) with a keen eye for the current situation (Mechanismo judge Patsy becoming an integral part of the team) and without a happy ending.
02. The Immigrant. Great to have Al back, if only for a one off. Slightly broad Brexit comedy but still laugh out loud funny in places.
03. The Victims of Bennet Beeny. Who am I trying to kid? Of course Wagner makes it. Found parts of this a little hard to follow first time around but it's another intriguing slice of the Beeny pie. Might've made it a place higher if Colin had been able to draw the whole thing.
Carry the Nine just missed out. A fun idea which plays much more to Williams strengths than the very weak epic it forms an epilogue to.
Last call for votes - this one will be called in the morning - THERE WILL BE NO RECOUNTS ... well unless I mess up again...
- The Bird Lady of Al Capone
- The Victims of Bennett Beeny
