Alas we have to pick our favourite and to do so just pop the name of the art droid you'd most like to go through to the Semi Finals, but please add anything else you'd like to say as well.
This one will close and be counted on the morning of Friday 29th January

For me, as well as all the other stuff he has done, Flint is the number one current Dredd artist.
Lots of votes will rightly go to Henry, but for me the precise style of D'Israeli clinches it.
D'Israeli.
Both currently amazing. For me, Flint took more time to bed in. I also appreciate D'Israeli's ability to shake things up. So he gets the nod from me, albeit by a whisker.
D'Israeli
Flint
D'Israeli- for Leviathan, Scarlet Traces and for challenging my eyes with his elaborate recent work on Stickleback.
SBT
D'Israeli for me
D'Israeli for me - a tough choice but we're at that stage now...
I am a big fan of D'Israeli's work. He likes to mix up his style and can do grey-scale, colour and just plan B/W just as good. One thing I do not like about his art and that is his take on Dredd.

His style doesn't always gel with Dredd, but looking at that first pic, it's pretty good. It's the helmet and face that feel a bit off. (Flint, of course, is the modern Dredd master.)
His art is just fantastic but I literally don't like his Dredd.
Flint's take on Dredd:

Really hard. But I'm going for D'Israeli.
The toughest choice so far, but D'Israeli by the smallest of margins.

Literally for the exact same reasons. Unique style needs rewarding.
I seem to be needing to brace myself for a shock here!

Me too. First Bolland, now Flint. What's going on?
And as of right now it's not even close....bit of a thrashing. 😱

HENRY FLINT.
What are youse, crazy?
I nearly didn't vote, but seeing the way it's going - Flint! I prefer his strips, but possibly that's because of the writers that he's paired with. The definitive modern Dredd artist.

The counting should go easy for each Flint you can call it as if it is 5 votes. You can also disqualify all votes for D'Isreali since it is not his real name or something like that.
Wow, so far this is a big surprise........
I love D'Israeli's work. Scarlet Traces and Leviathan being some of my favourites. It's odd and quirky without losing any storytelling impact.
However, Henry Flint somehow manages to combine the bonkers sci-fi freakout atmosphere of Kev O'Neill or Massimo Belardinelli in some pieces like Shakara or Proteus Vex, and still brings the sheer authority of Carlos Ezquerra to his work on Dredd. A remarkable combination of skills. Concentrated thorough-bred 2000AD Thrill Power if you will!
My choice is Henry Flint
Henry Flint
A modern 2000ad artist who can capture everything I love about Ezquerra, O'Neill and McMahon while maintaining a style that's very much his own. His Dredd is brilliant, evoking the best of Ezquerra and McMahon's versions.
For me, nothing in modern 2000ad comes as close to matching the insanity and invention of O'Neill in the early Nemesis books at Flint on Shakara. C'mon, the Planet Bomb!
D'Israeli. Flint is of course a phenomenon, and it's a pleasure to read every page, but Matt is probably my favourite comics artist working today. Sorry!
He was also a very generous interviewee, back in the day when I got to chat with people for magazines. I had a lot of fun talking about his process, which at the time was fluid comics art in Illustrator (which pretty much no-one else was doing). I know he's moved on since then, but the notion of someone making 2000 AD strips almost entirely in Illustrator blew my mind.
It's also interesting that some of his other works rocked up in Rebellion publications: Scarlet Traces and Lazarus Churchyard. Wildly different but both are also fab.
Aaagh.
Probably my 1 & 2 going up against each other in the quarters. This sound be the final. This is all wrong.
It's genius level skill, craft, knowledge, design and risk-taking vs pure madness.
Madness wins.
FLINT.
Henry Flint...I thought he'd run away this this round TBH.
Aargh!
This is my favourite artist vs my no. 1 artist.
[toss coin] FLINT [/toss coin]
Henry Flint
D'Israeli, championing a very different approach in much of his work and that wins it for me.
Mr Flint does have the best Dredd though!
Oh no!!! One of the greatest artists of a War of the Worlds series ever, or one of the greatest modern Dredd artists!! Aaargh!!
I can't vote based on sheer artistic talent, as its just too close to call, so I'm going to go with D'Israeli simply because I was aware of The War of the Worlds before I was aware of Dredd. A stupid way to vote, but it's the only way I could call it.
Well I did a cheeky precount last night to see hiow this one is going and its close. It was an accurate count as I did it quickly but we could still have a surprise on our hands here - so if you want to affect the result your final votes could do just that, do it today and I'll count up properly in the morning.
Exciting!
Oh wow it's a lot closer than it was; a couple of last minute votes could make all the difference 😉

Yeah its really closed up. I genuinely excited to see how this one plays out!
Can I vote anonymous as well?

Depends who you vote for - but given form yes!
My alter ego and I are in agreement we both vote always for the same artists, writers are the problem
It'd be interesting also to go into another reality and see how these votes would play out if people weren't keeping count. There does sometimes seem to be a bit of "oh, I didn't realise X was behind, and so I'm giving my vote to Y"!

We all are in lockdown what else are we going to do?
Don't have time right now to write the treatise these two deserve. Both comfortably up there with the all-time greats and still continually giving us new and exciting work.
Henry Flint by a nose.
VOTING CLOSED
WOW!
Just WOW!
I counted this last night as I knew it was close and we tend not to get many votes over night in the UK. I knew I'd have to recount so got ahead. I've recounted of course this morning and that has confirmed the result.
I love D'Israeli don't get me wrong. His style is fresh, exciting and conveys the right story like no other can. But for me however Henry Flint is 2000ad. He's the absolute definitive artist. He has clear and precise storytelling and character work. His art is so dynamic and has a real sharp edge. He's creative and imaginative with a touch of madness like few others. He is thrilling. He's my favourite 2000ad artist ever.
And that's why I love this tourney, as the fact its based on art makes it so much more subjective and able to throw up surprises... just wish those surprises weren't against artists I love AND this one is the biggest - wel through the prism of my biase - I thought we'd have a Colin MacNeil vs Henry Flint final on this side... turns out I'm rubbish at predicting this as
D'Israeli
Is through to the semi finals. If he can get more votes than Henry Flint can anyone stop him?
A toast to the winner:

WOW is right, this is a shocking result! I was hoping for Flint as well. Colin MacNeil vs Henry Flint would have been nearly impossible for me to decide, I guess that final vote will be easier now...
D'Israeli is great, I just prefer Flint. Although not 2000AD, Kingdom of the Wicked is fantastic!
Rogue do not discard Simon Fraser. I am sure he will go trough to the next round. Although I have a favourite artists I am more in believer that certain artists and their styles are better suited for certain series. I cannot see Flint doing Stickelback and I do not like D'Isreali's take on Dredd. Niemand could have done Shakara quite like Flint did it.

I don't think at this stage you can discount anyone... well I can't. Firstly the draw can be a cruel mistress. Secondly viewwed through my lens these tourneys are throwing up what I see as surprised right left and centre. Third everyone is such a talent at this point. I'm out the prediction game now!

That's the funny thing, reason I say I think I see Henry Flint as the definitive 2000ad artist I literally can't imagine a strip his style would bring something to and he'd make work. That's not to say better or worse than a different artist, or typical artist for a given strip but that he'd bring something different to the party and make that strip his own and really work for him.
While my man won, there's no victory here.

Agreed. It was a wrench having to choose between the two. I can only imagine the emotional upheaval as we get closer to the final.
