Anything else just ask and I'll make something up.
Mike
Massimo for me
Very tough since Massimo delivered such incredible Thrill but I have to go with Mick McMahon - astonishing, restless artistic talent and design ability coupled with innate heavyweight storytelling chops. I'd vote for Mick on the basis of Sky Chariots alone.
Massimo Belardinelli, for making so much of his work truly alien.
A tough one.
One of the definitive Dredd artists who also put his own stamp on Slaine versus the man who was the go to man for all those incredible early sci-fi tales. And who also put his own stamp on Slaine.
My initial gut was to go for Mike but after thinking about it for a bit I'm going for Massimo.
Mick McMahon!
Mick McMahon
SBT
McMahon
Belardinelli
Yikes. Two titans of the classic Prog. Mick McMahon, by a whisker.
Mike McMahon.
Impossible choice.
Belardinalli
Mike McMahon for being at least two awesome artists (Cursed Earth/Block Mania-era Dredd + Sky Chariots Slaine, then Howler Dredd + Third Element ABC Warriors).
Going with Mick this time.
Mick McMahon
Ooh, that's hard. I believe both did their very best work on Sláine, and both were fecking brilliant - though neither of them had Sláine himself looking the way Angie Mills designed him or all the post-Massimo artists developed, both of them drew the best Tir na n-Ogs of any Sláine artists ever.
I think, for sheer originality, for developing a truly unique style that looks like something woven together with the primitive tools of Sláine's time, McMahon wins by a hair.
massimo
always
If Massimo beats Bolland, then he beats McMahon as well in my book!
Mick gets my vote

Yeah I agree 👍.
Page per page I'd say McMahon wins but peak McMahon was pretty limited output wise compared to page after page of creative insanity from Belardinelli. So Massimo gets my vote.
Mick McMahon. The McMahon Dredd statute in my "man-cave" backs up my vote!
Vote for McMahon
Ah, look, I don't know who to pick here. I'm going to do my artist switcheroo here and ask if McMahon could have done a job on Ace Trucking or Mean Team and have the same impact as Belardinelli? I think we could have seen some interesting McMahon style gearshift and gotten something special that would work. We know both artists can draw Slaine superbly well, but I'm still in awe of McMahon's Sky Chariot run, and would love to have seen more of that style of Slaine. When it comes to Dredd, I don't think swapping in Belardinelli for McMahon would work at all. So I think, even though I love the weirdo madness of Belardinelli's work, I'm going to pick Mick McMahon to progress from this round.
I'm also after realising who the last pairing in the Classic Artists quarter-finals are... good grud! Shenanigans ahead!

That's just saying 'I don't like belatdinelli's Dredd' (which is fair enough) but seriously underplaying the humour, alien-ness and unique strangeness Belardinelli brought to everything he touched. Can I imagine Ace Trucking by anyone else? No.
Massimo Belardinelli
Vote WEIRD!

Well, I've got to choose one of them! I did back Massimo's weirdyness last round vs Bolland. I think a McMahon Ace Trucking would be better than a Belardinelli Dredd and that's how I flipped the coin in the end. These decisions are not getting any easier!
Boots wars is GO GO GO
McMahon's early Dredd wins it for me.
Massimo was amazing though.
Belardinelli
Because Ace Garp beats Slaine.

Yes that is just wrong...I had picked that for the final....there is going to be a big casualty in that one 😱
Neck and neck, but Mick wins it for the awesome Sky Chariots.
Looks like we will have to go up to 12,5 on you'll:
Well assuming I don't throw my toys out the pram and storm off home to sulk now my favourite artist is out I'll be back in the morning to count this one up, so get any votes in today.
This is officially the hardest choice yet. These two drew my favourite comics stories of all time, and each surrounded those milestones with an ocean of completely unique work.
Mick is hands down one of the finest Artists to have ever graced the medium but my gut is telling me to go with Massive.
So it's Bellardinelli for me.
VOTING CLOSED
Well both of these have had tough draws so far and both have been favored over some astonishing, loved artists. So when they were drawn together it was always going to be incredibly difficult. Massimo has gone through against an artist who grew on the page alongside Mike McMahon, when he shocked everyone (well me!) by pulling more votes than Brian Bolland. This time however
Mike McMahon
and the seminal work he's done in the Prog was finally a vote to far.
