Right just four this time - hence re-voting even though these four where in the previous round together - the smaller field may well change outcomes - it'll also change timing so we can get all this out the way for the knockouts starting Monday.
Look at the list of 4 Dredd stories below and tell me your top three:
1 (your favourite of the 4) will get 3 points
2 (your 2nd fav) will get 2 points
3 (your 3rd fav) will get 1 point
47 City of the Damned (https://dreddepicsranked.blogspot.com/2020/08/epics-50-47-dont-bother.html) - Progs 393-406
40 Mechanismo (https://dreddepicsranked.blogspot.com/2020/07/epics-43-41-these-stories-are-real.html) - Megs 2.12-2.17; 2.22-2.26; 2.37-2.43
30 Trifecta (https://dreddepicsranked.blogspot.com/2020/12/epics-31-29-reaching-for-heights.html) - Progs 1804-1812
14 The Small House (https://dreddepicsranked.blogspot.com/2020/12/epics-16-14-two-of-these-are-many.html) - Progs 2100 - 2109
Whatever happens there some BIG climbers here. Just how high can City of the Damned go? To be honest Mechanismo has had a not too dissimilar march up - if its got less attention.
I'll close voting first thing Sunday morning - 28th March - so this is all done and dusted for Monday and we can focus on the knockouts. There a much smaller number and I'm not sure folks will be too enamoured with this vote - we'll see what attention it gets.
All links go through to AlexF's simply brilliant Dredd Epics Ranked (https://dreddepicsranked.blogspot.com/) blog. You may need to scroll to find his write up of a particular story - but I'd suggest just reading the whole thing anyway - it's fantastic stuff.
Baffled by what's going on here - well we have a a thread for that (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=47367.0) - though that might leave you more confused than anything.
Rules (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=47367.msg1053448#msg1053448) for what they are worth.
Not sure about anything just ask and I'll blag it.
1. The Small House
2. Trifecta
3. Mechanismo
1. City of the Damned
2. Mechanismo
3. The Small House
Having not read The Small House, this is the easiest vote yet!
Mechanismo my favourite of the rest.
Trifecta a well-deserved second place.
Never thought I'd find myself voting for City of the Damned, but here we are! It's a long way from my favourite, but hey, there are some good bits. It starts very well, the Dredd/Anderson interplay is great (such a shame she'd soon be hives off into her own isolated pocket of the Dreddverse) and the Dillon episodes are superb - if only he could have done it all!
1 Trifecta

dammit if I haven't been worn down by the extreme love expressed for CotD! The good bits really are very good, even if, as a whole, I still think it's a bit rubs.
City of the Dammed

The Small House
Mechanismo is still not an epic.

Despite not previously voting once for COTD, I've been recently won over by both Wolfie and BPP so,
City of the Damned
Trifecta
The Small House
1st: City of the Damned - voice-training, bionic eyes and a zombie Dredd. Come get some!
2nd: Trifecta - great meta-crossover, silly "construct an interplanetary city to take over a city" plot.
3rd: Mechanismo - too procedural to be a true epic, and after the blast of the first series, has some weaker art.
1. City of the Damned
2. Mechanismo
3. The Small House
In all other votres I've been putting Mechanismo ahead of CotD. However, through the sharing of color spreads and convincing arguments of CotD supporters, my vote has been swayed! CotD deserves a high standing, I'm convinced.
1 Mechanismo
2. Trifecta
3. City of the Damned
- Trifecta
- Mechanismo
- The Small House
1. City of the Damned
2. Mechanismo
1. City of the Damned - I'm so going to re-read this now.
2. Mechanismo - And this.
3. Trifecta - I read this again last year and it was great. Needs another year or two fallow before I pick it up again. That reveal is still awesome.
Easy choice for me from these four.
While we're celebrating CotD - it did something pretty unique for a first episode by not using the centre spread until the end, then foreshadowing the whole story:

And it wasn't until I looked that out, that I noticed the way they'd incorporated the title into the cityscape, which made me wonder if this was an homage:
Surely yes, but aren't both homages to Will Eisner on the Spirit, where he did that sort of thing a lot?

For me the City of the Damned image is more generic movie poster than specifically Eisner riff. The Prog is full of people riffing on the classic Eisner splashes - one early Walter the Robot story - from an annual I believe was particularly Eisneresque... hold on...
Damn can't find it from a quick search and no time to look now (well that and I'm too lazy!) it was a story set in an appartment block and involved folks getting stuck in a lift I think... Brett Ewins art maybe... also completely derailing this thread so...
Tower of Babbil from the 1982 SciFi Special? Art by Casanovas, so not a million miles from the Ewins of an earlier era.

Looking at the art from a quick search I'd say no - as that's defo a Dredd story (not to say this once doesn't have an Eisner splash of course) - I'll see if I can get to the nerd cave this evening to find it - defo a Walter specific story....
Okay a quick scan of Barney (why did Google not Barney the first time!??? May Tharg forgive me) shows the 1981 Dredd Annual has a Walter the Wobot story called 'Eisner Block' - with art by Brendan McCarthy... now if I was a betting man....
Ahhh, of course! Reprinted in the prog top, should have remembered that one. Tower of Babbil does have a block built in the shape of a word, so another possible homage...
I haven't read Small House either, so:
1 - Mechanismo
2 - City of the Damned
3 - Trifecta
Funt Solo has sensibly moved the conversation about Eisner to another thread
Obscurum Artem - https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=46554.0 (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=46554.0)
And the answer is all there with a very, very brilliant example of an Eisner splash.
1: City of the Damned
2: Trifecta
3: The Small House
Closing this one in the morning and we'll be all ready for the final - think there'll be some big gains here... well there will be won't there!
1. City of the Damned
2. The Small House
3. Mechanismo
Run the top 3 of this against the bottom 3 of the higher bracket.... bet they switch
VOTING CLOSED
And so this result brings our highest raisers to date, by some margin.
20: (14) Small House - 23 points = Down 6 places
19: (30) Trifecta - 39 Points = Up 11 places (Only Cheif Judge's Man top this I type with the previous highest place gain, but...)
18: (40) Mechanismo - 41 points = Up 22 places (a mind melting new pinacle for storming up the rankings, but...
17: (42) City of the Damned - 50 points = Up 25, yes count them 25 places. We watched this Epic climb up round after round. So much love has been shared for it and in the end it earns a mind melting, surely won't be beatened rise...
... its still not very good mind (ducks and runs!)
And so with these trimuphant thrills, by and large, poor Small House in their rightful places we now move to the final phase of this tourney as if you come back tomorrow we will have entered
THE KNOCK OUTS
Exciting
This system is so much fun: cheers for all the hard work and humour, Colin.

Thirded.
Super kind everyone - trust me I love it and I'm just chuffed folks seem to engage and it does what it does to help keep the Forum as buzzing as its been for the last year.
Yes these tourneys are what I look forward to most as far as the Forum is concerned; they are a great way to stimulate a bit of debate.

But the weird part for me is that I can not comprehend why so many disagree with my choices. Stranger than fiction :)
*checks notes*
It says here that I'm right and you're wrong. :'(
Sorry I thought we cleared all that up earlier.
