Title: obsessive fans
Post by: Matt on 24 January, 2002, 10:35:28 PM
I've seen the Spiderman petition thingy on the net somewhere. What made me laugh is that some fans argue that the organic webshooters are simply not believable. Errr...hold on, we are talking about a guy who can stick to walls!!!!

Some people make a career out of being obsessive fans, they go and work in Games Workshop.

Well, everyone needs something to obsess about I guess, whether it's the teachings of the apostles or endlessly talking about the Mk1 and Mk2 lawgiver and the ammunition they use.

On that note, (I won the Cleveland Local Radio record/newspaper article link award 1986) I've been reading some old progs lent to me (yes, the Pit is great) and someone compains in the letters about the six forms of ammo.  They say 'standard execution' was one.  I though standard execution was something judges did to very bad people with a normal bullet, I don't think they have a special one for it.  Not only did the misguided fan have the temerity to complain about other peoples interpretations but he then goes on to make a unbelievable naive comment, based on a judge saying 'standard execution'.  Oh I wept.

How's that?  Fairly convincing aren't I?

You're right, standard execution is the normal bog-standard round the lawgiver fires.

I have to say though, that some of the arguments on the various 2000 AD boards have been just as obsessive as the organic webshooter ones. That's what the boards are for.

That's probably true, actually. An episode of 'Star Trek' lasts an entire 45-minutes.

Oh a classic.  But at least you don't have to make any effort to secure a partner for star trek.

Actually lots of other comparisoms have suddenly occured to me but they aren't wholesome so I'll stop.
