Here's a preview of my new Judge Dredd strip written by Adrian Hall and drawn by your's truly:

And the "What shape is Dredds Helmet?" debate reaches it's logical conclusion....
Love the artwork!!!! ace... I wouldn't fancy being shot with any gun, but most especially that one!!! :-)
Ed
Yeah, me too. I really like your style of drawing.
Was this conceived as some sort of experiment, to see just how many double entendres you could get onto a page.
Great stuff, but if that thing raises it's head, he'll pass out from blood loss to the head (the other head)!
Not sure about the fuzz on Dredds face but otherwise superb. You can almost hear the cheezy music fading in.
'Great stuff, but if that thing raises it's head, he'll pass out from blood loss to the head (the other head)!'
I imagine porn stars in Dredd's world have been genetically modified, or had parts grafted on from well endowed animals such as horses [or reconstituted mammoth], which explains the guy's enormous but flaccid pecker!

Very nice art there, Chief. The colouring is great, too.
As for the helmet in the first frame... purple by coincidence?
Will we get to see him unload his weapon? Shame Mean Angel isn't co-starring, would give a whole new meaning to a "face fulla four" ;)
Get this onto the 'underware' thread right now!

I'm only guessing here, but I don't think it is Dredd, but a porno actor playing him..?
'I'm only guessing here, but I don't think it is Dredd, but a porno actor playing him..?'
... you're not wrong.

WaHoo!!

That's what I thought ditto the femme actor

Great artwork, pity about the subject. You're just lucky John Wagner doesn't feel the same way as Pat Mills about the use of his creations.
I know it's just a laugh, but this is the official site, don't you think it's spoiling the image somewhat having immature crap like that posted here? Well, obviously you don't, but I'll guarantee there are a few that do.
Er, you obviously havent read some of the earlier Dredd stories like the 'carry on' spoof or the one where hes in the bath. Im willing to bet Wagner the sense of humour to appreciate this.
Don't get stuffy when you've only seen one page... and lighten up. It's funny how when John Wagner writes this tuff, you don't complain [see his topless work in the strip 'Sleaze' and his gay buggery in 'Dead Ringer'.

Seeing as that's just page one of a longer strip (which I'm guessing will involve Dredd busting the film-makers) I don't think it is 'spoiling the image'.
Not compared to say stories like "Phartz", but then that was John & Carlos in the Megazine so they can get away with it.
"Phartz", that got my eleven year old reading the Meg (and laughing)
Lighten up guys, spring has sprung, Remember its a comic...

"don't you think it's spoiling the image somewhat having immature crap like that posted here"
Nice to see the spirit of Mary Whitehouse lives on. Maybe it's your attitude to sex and pornography that's immature. Lets face it porn is rife in modern society so I'm assuming that it'll be rife in MegaCity One as well. With 99.9% unemployment the cits will need something to aleviate the bordom.
W**king as a Megacity hobby? isn't that a different thread?
Maybe it's your attitude to sex and pornography that's immature
Bit presumptuous of you. Did I say there was anything wrong with porn? No, I didn't, I just don't think it goes well with a (non-adult) comic strip.
Also sounds like you're fine about letting kids read absolutely anything to do with sex at an early age? Mary Whitehouse was against porn etc altogether. The more sensible approach which is prevailing now is to prevent anyone underage from being exposed to it.
There's been hints about stuff like that in the past, but it's been more subtle.
It's funny how when John Wagner writes this tuff, you don't complain [see his topless work in the strip 'Sleaze' and his gay buggery in 'Dead Ringer'.
Would that be in the 2000ad?
I'm not being stuffy. I'm just expressing an opinion on fan fiction. Just looks like you could do a lot better than stuff like that. I'd have found it funny when I was 17 maybe, but well, that's just my opinion.
Er, don't tell me what I haven't read. I'm sure he does, and so do I, I just don't think it's appropriate. Did those strips have a gun drawn abviously like a cock?
"Did those strips have a gun drawn abviously like a cock?"
No but a mutant in the new McNulty strip has a bell end shaped head, and in the one before that there was a guy with a cock for a nose. As for a kids comic dealing with porn, well 2000AD isn't exactly a kids comic anymore, and it's dealt with the issue before "Money Shots" anyone? As for not letting underage kids read content with sex in it, well I would have missed Watchmen & Marshal Law Fear & Loathing when they first came out. My mum even tried to stop my local comic shop selling Marshal Law after she flicked through a couple of copies I'd left lying around in my bedroom. Exposure to both didn't damage my morals as a young teenager.
"The more sensible approach which is prevailing now is to prevent anyone underage from being exposed to it. "
Great idea. Lets brush sex under the carpet and risk our kids having to discover it by themselves. No wonder our country has the highest unwanted teenage pregnancy figure in Europe.

Yeah, that's true :o)
Anyway, can't be arsed arguing about it anymore. I've got no objections to it really, just thought the board had got a bit boring since the anti-big-brother-fascists drove those threads into obscurity. Has it been abandoned completely???
Don't sweat it Doug, it's differences of opinion that keep the board interesting. If we all agreed on everything the board would get bland very quickly.

No it's not!
If we all agreed on everything the board would get bland very quickly.
I disagree!
LOL, time for lunch I think :o)
Cheers abody,
S (bored on a Friday that's too fine to be at work) D
'Would that be in the 2000ad?'
Both were published in the Megazine.

Unfortunately, the guy who wrote the script isn't on this group, but I am, so I have to take any flack for him. It's not the usual sort of thing I would draw - or write myself - but Adrian has been a good mate and so I'm returning the favour by drawing his script.

But it is a good script. Well what I've seen so far.
(I think) I can see where the story's going, so I'm sure it'll still be in keeping with the Law.
I do still hold the (slight) opinion that it's one thing encroaching on another, but it's an independant thing so I certainly can't say it shouldn't exist. It's an old school/comics code type attitude I know and I'm no stranger to Vertigo titles. I mean I loved Preacher so I can't say a bloody thing really. I suppose reading it for so long old stoney face's attitude kind of rubs off on you a bit (er, matron).
Honestly though, the art's well impressive, hope to see you in print sometime (please forgive and inform me if you already have been :o)

Well, I've written the bulk of the Official JDRPG releases for 2002 and llustrated all but two of the books, but you'd be forgiven for not knowing that - nobody reads them :)

And let's not forget Saddam's Love Gun from Big Dave, it was a wee bit willie like.
And I was thinking the same thing as someone mentioned earlier, this strip is not really any more 'rude' than Carry On Judging. Or the Sex issue, remember that?
Ah, I remember years ago when I was first introduced to 2000AD. My mate ryan opened a copy on a newstand to point at an episode of Finn and say "look theres tits in this!". After I got past that I found delight in the occasional blood and gore, which kept me hooked.
Oh, to be 13 again. Life was so simple
it was a wee bit willie like and spoofed (ripped off is too harsh) the chair thingy from Alien.
2000AD nookie-spotters might want to check out the Dredd story 'Hellbent' from Prog 1242 and the panel with the line "Shift that gearstick, baby".
(Also of interest, it was written by Robbie Morrison and includes a crying child! Hooray!)
Nice art, as always Caliber.
I have read all the books in the Outdraw set and the art is fine there too.
Is this strip destined for this site?
Light-weight material is always good.
Rotts
Yep, the full, six page strip will appear here. I was very ill halfway through the line art creation, which delayed finishing it by three weeks; it's been hard to get back into the swing of things, so the colouring and lettering is taking a fair bit of time.
- John
I know what you mean. I had a five year lay off before Deathsphere.
Now I notice if I spend more than week without 'working' Strange.
Keep 'em coming Caliber, its nice to see your line work in colour too.
rotts
top stuff !
'And let's not forget Saddam's Love Gun from Big Dave, it was a wee bit willie like.'
A wee bit? It was BLATANTLY a mickey!
I know, but I wanted to get the words 'wee' and 'willie' in the same sentence. And now I've done it again!
the artwork is excellent.
as for the debate part. im not bothered. would be great to see this complete on the site.
that is up to wake of course.i know , but i think its good.
Page two is up on my message board; I don't plan to post any more here until the full strip is completed, but if you want to take an early look, here's the link:

Looking good, Caliber.
Heh. I am the law. You're naughty.
John, are you a fan of Richard Corben by any chance?
Your line work is very similar to his, especially the work from 'Vic and Blood'
Like it loads, really works.
Rotts
Not really - I've seen very little of his work and not for years. My main influences - though they may no longer be evident - were/are John Byrne, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby and Alan Davis.
