I'd love to see more stories along the lines of Slaine/Lord of the Rings and other Fantasy type stories, we've had tons of great futuristic type over the years but the fantasy genre seems to be rather lacking! Any one else agree?

Disagree. Personally I prefer my 2000AD filled with sci-fi action horror and humour rather than straight fantasy. Slaine was OK because it started out as Celtic myth with attitude (not elves-and-goblins-style fantasy) and quickly picked up some strong sci-fi elements (time travel, el virus etc.) But I think 2000AD's sense of humour is too dark and quirky to support generic fantasy. Doesn't Warhammer Monthly do that kind of thing?

I'm another disagree there. there's something about the Dark Ages that brings out the worst in writers. Slaine has had lots of good moments but a hell of a lot of pompous ones too.
What would be cool would be stories set in a less cliched time period like....I dunno, 1970's China or possibly Britain in the eighties........
