I've just added the 23 Judge Dredd Lawman of the Future comics to the 'other publications' page.

I had no respect for Lawman of the future.

But I damn well liked it. In an innocent barmy bollocks kinda way.

ah LOF got to have a soft spot for that seeing as it was the comics that got me into 2000ad. Plus the Death story had a pretty nifty twist.

Just got hold of the 1st twelve of these, pretty poor overall but there are some nice touches and the Simon Fraser art is a treat.

However, David Bishop hired some really poor artists to imitate the mighty McMahon look on a couple of stories.

Of course when I say imitate I mean rip off wholesale!

Interesting to see how much early Jim Murray looks like Sam Kieth art.

It had some great Alex Ronald (sp?) art, in the Judge Death re-vamp.

Wouldn't mind a page or two of his art.

Wasnt there sopposed to have been a second Judge Death story, but then it got cancelled. Also why did the strip never appear in Sonic the Comic as promised.

Having a 'kiddie' Dredd appear in the Sonic comic would have been good marketing.

However would it have been good for the character?

I picked up the first issue at the Prestonapnas event just out of curiosity.  While it's obviously for kids, and most of the material seems somewhat recycled, it's not that bad.  It does spend a lot of time labouring the lingo, when I would have thought working it out would have been part of the fun.

The Teague and Smith artwork is very nice.  Not so keen on the O'Ready stuff.

Anyway, overall interesting to see the optimism of the first issue, even if I'm not gagging to track down the rest.

It feels really odd looking at these comics, judge death is all muscles.

Not so keen on the O'Ready stuff.

That's because you DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!

I don't think he'll ever completely live that pitchfest down.

well done Wake!

I've only read one JDLOTF and it struck me that the stories had been simplified but not really made kid-friendly. So the result was the worst of both worlds; stories with an 'adult' and kid-repelling look but with nothing really happening in them, no bite.
As I say, I've just read the one, may be wrong about this. But I'd like to read the rest, completist that I am.  do they cost a fortune?

I thought it was a great comic, and while I was reading 2000AD my little brother was getting LOTF, very fond memories of it.
