Title: calling all Alien fans
Post by: Last of the V8's on 18 July, 2003, 01:00:14 AM
Just read this on the Fangoria website:
July 16: ALIEN rerelease to get big break, new footage

Variety reports that 20th Century Fox?s rerelease of ALIEN, scheduled for this Halloween, October 31, will have a major break in 1,000-plus theaters?the biggest opening for a genre reissue since THE EXORCIST: THE VERSION YOU?VE NEVER SEEN. And like that edition, the new ALIEN will contain additional footage never seen before?not even on the DVD. The trade also notes that the movie is going unopposed as the only wide release that Friday?the Alien must?ve scared off the competition.

Will this be on the new DVD box set released in October or are we going to have to shell out yet more dosh to Fox. You have to admire there marketing people.

'You have to admire these marketing people'

Yes indeed, capitalism and fandom. Like watching a train wreck that never ends.

its a nice idea but the original aliens is better than the directors cut because you actually know less so more suspense i.e. the intro bit...

Nah, the Aliens Directors Cut is far better. I love seing the colony teeming with life and laughter before the fleshy ones are massacred.

As for the Alien cut, does this mean we get to see the bit where Dallas and Brett are cocooned and turned into eggs? I thought that this was a good idea, but a bit out of synch with the series continuity.
