According to Previews, there?s going to be a ?2000AD showcase? launched, reprinting Mike Carey and Andy Clarkes ?13?. A 32 page comic, presumably USA comic sized? More stuff to follow?
The autumn offensive features ?Durham Red?, ?Dead Men (man) Walking? and a story called ?Facing Mecha? ? no details of creators for that one.
Sounds like a good idea, I imagine snow/tiger would be another potential contender.
Then again we don't want ot give the poor yanks an Andy Clarke overdrive.
What about The Scrap? Lots of little standalones like this would work wonders.
Odd you say that. I read 2k is changing its page size to the Megazine's in the new year cos it's trying to appeal to the European market, rather than the US. Reprinting 13 for the US market is the complete opposite of that.
No... really?
We are going back to old shaped progs?
April was a few months back you know :)
Well, I wouldn't mind.
I would. I love the new format.
Was mentioned on google 2k group. Dunno if it's true. New Year is when the change happens.
Read this on the google group. Early April fool or true? You decide.
"The land of the dollar isn't very supportive of 2000 AD material. It's a dying market. The new format will make 2000 more accessible to
the European format, where comics are more popular. Regarding an earlier comment of yours, 2000 AD isn't expanding to 100 pages. It's keeping the same page count but the page *size* is shrinking to the same as the Meg."
Change? By Grud, I'll not stand for it!
Interesting though, this weeks cover reminded me somewhat of the Meg cover. Will we see some growth in the weekly? I'd think not. The Meg size would seem a tad wide for the thickness of it, if you see what I mean.
I'm a sucker for the old prog 2k size, me. Always found the new version a bit too thin and tall. As long as the zarjaz thrills keep coming, I don't mind.
Yup, any size is good for me, although bigger is better. Was strange when it thinned down, but I guess I've just got used to it. I'm sure loads of people get annoyed by that Prog 110-ish-140-ish period which just causes disorder in the collection by being distinctly smaller than the rest. I'm sure there's some elaborate reason for that though.
Noooooo!!!
I like the current page size, and it gives me the shits when they change it like me changing my underpants.
Yes, that's once every 3-4 years.
32pp, US format, US size. Starting at issue #1 (big shock there) and ongoing, reprinting complete stories in pieces.

And I reckon it's a SPUNKINGLY good idea!
(I'm not sure if that's a word, but I like it. I think I just invented it. It means "very.")

And with the new books coming out - and the Meg's GOLD section - will there be anything left unreprinted?
Will Showcase be published by Rebellion - or will they license it to a US company to print (such as Dark Horse).
They should reprint Dredd stuff because of the launch of the Dredd game and the forthcoming movies. Maybe a separate comic and call it Judge Dredd Showcase. That guy who posted about Rebellion giving up on America was totally wrong. Sounds good news. Let's hope the Amercians go for it. Can only help 2k's profile.
Useless trivia: The old US Quality comic reprinting 2000AD material was called.........(drum roll please).....2000AD Showcase.
Spooky.:)

History repeats itself!
Rebellion will be producing Showcase, yeah. There should be a press release about all this next week.

SPUNKINGLY ?! back to wank mags,;-)
Bigger pages fine by me, just lets not go back to bog paper.
Press release next week, pah! we'll just make it up beforehand
Huffy B-)
This is an odd thought, but won't that 13 promo art look good on the shelves. Might have to buy it on the strength of that alone.
2000AD Showcase #1-4 - which will serialise Thirteen - is going to have all-new covers; the promo art in Previews should be marked "not final cover".

Drag. Still, I'm sure the promo art of Joe giving the fingers will be used somewhere. Graphic novel cover?
Ish #1 has a variation on the "giving the fingers" theme, mostly inspired by the cover to the first RAMONES album ;)

I'd have thought laminated pages would be best...
But if 2000AD is going to match the Megazine's page dimensions, that means that forthcoming strips later picked to appear in 2000AD Showcase will not fit that comic's US page format... is that right?

Aieeeee all this makes my brain hurt!
its not size that matters its whats it the prog!
(actually boys, it does.)
I would say that it might seem a wise choice to have the logo for the series prominent on each issue and a series part no. on it.
E.g. 13 part 2 of 4.
Then by the 2000AD logo a regular issue number.
Or have I gone mad? It just seems to me there is potential for confusion on what people are buying.
Page size seems failry rumermongous at the moment.
