Right then- I'm trying to get a complete collection of, well, stuff that I like- and I need a bit of help. This isn't a plea for you to supply me with items, just for information. So- here are a few questions. Apologies for the inherent nerdiness of this post!
1. Was there a 2000ad presents Dan Dare annual, cover dated 1978? This site says no, but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere.
2. Regarding the 'Scream' summer specials- and David, if you're readig, you may be able to help me out here- I know there were 5, and one of those is called 'Supernatural' or similar, but can someone supply me with dates and, even better, cover scans so I know what to look for?
3. Ditto the 'Action' summer specials.
4. 'Battle'. 673 issues- none of them numbered. Sigh. Is there ANYWHERE on the web can get either a printable listing of the cover dates of them all, OR some kind of downloadable printable calender type thingy that goes back to the early seventies?
5. Can somebody just shoot me now and put me out of my misery?
Many thansk for any help any of you can supply!

The Dan Dare annual for 78? As far as I'm aware there were two Dare annuals - 79 and 80, with Dredd annuals from 81. Never heard of or seen a 78 one...

Maybe the confusion is that Dan Dare is on the cover of the 1978 2000ad annual.
Yeh I have put together an Excel spreadsheet of the Battle issues (its far from complete!) to aid my collecting on ebay. Slowly filling in the strips on each issue (hopefully with creators credits when its finished). Hoping to make it an online database at some point. I can email you what I have (its pretty sparse at the mo').
You could do worse than start with the 'Charleys War' stripography, which gives a good run down from issue #200.

Found this while wandering around the web (pun intended).
It's the poster for Spiderman 2. There are bigger versions on the Sony Movies site but I couldn't figure out how to post them here.
pfff i thought this was going to be a DIY thread where i coulda offered you lots of advice on the best fillas & silicone & stuff to use. bah, comic geeks, just don't understand the joy of power tools.
Many, many thanks to all who replied!
At last I think I can cross 'Dan Dare annual 78(?)' off my scrappy bit of paper that sits next to the monitor and serves as my 'wants list'.
And many thanks for the link to the CW site (though I haven't been there yet- just got in from work you see and knackered. Getting paid to go swimming tomorrow though, hurrah! Yesterday was paid to see T3 again. Double hurrah!)- what I'm trying to do is get a list of the cover dates of all issues of Battle, so I can cross off the ones I have (around 70- pathetic I know, but hey! I've come to it late). Since years tend to have things like extra days and comics change their publication date from time to time, I'm finding it difficult to guess from the issues I do have.
Anyway- cheers for everything. I go back to other things now.

Who woke up this morning to find the basement flooded with sewage. Not good.
here goes steve
the scream specials ran from 85-89 the last one been scream spinechilllers, with no scream stories and j watson art (which i dont like)it hasent held much attraction ie its crap!the best one is 85 with a few lovely dave gibbons strips, anyone any idea where these were originaly meant for? 88 also has a reprint of black beth, with some great art,i think it came from misty or tammy.the others are ok with a mix of reprints from scream and further afield and some new stuff.these are not worth the money they are commanding on e bay, see if u can pick em up cheap, for completist, only.
battle ran from
8 mar 75-23 jan 88 for 673 issues, no issue on 30th dec 78. charleys war began on 6 jan 79no200 and ran till 26 jan 85. on 2 feb s goodall takes over as writer an moves charley to ww2, this runs till 4 oct 86, reprints after that till the end.go figure the dates!
action specials ran from 76-80, i think and there pretty good, i think some stories are leftovers from action after it was cancelled. btw
has anyone made the connection between hellman and wagners walk, as far as i can see it a sequal
hope that keeps u happy and busy in between the nappies
david
Thanks muchly David,
Now all I need to do is find an hour to myself, sit down and work all this out on paper. By the way, if you're still up for it, and if it's on, Dreddcon4 sounds like a plan. Next question is- when and where, if at all?
If Dreddcon organisers are reading- some of us need to plan time off work in advance, so help would be appreciated.

"Joy of power tools"?
Anyone seen the video for that awful Satisfaction song in the charts just now? Surely a contender for the underware (sic) thread.
flooded basement?
see thats what happens when you don't fill those gaps properly, shoulda listened to Auntie Bou.
"pfff i thought this was going to be a DIY thread"
I too misunderstood the title of this thread, your majesty. Anyway, got to go and get dressed again now :o(
"Anyone seen the video for that awful Satisfaction song in the charts just now? Surely a contender for the underware (sic) thread."
The 'song' is , well, shite.
But the video rates as one of the best ever, eh?
