And for that matter his "Utility" belt?
AND have we ever actually seen him getting anything out of them.
(I'm talking about those pouches on his gloves by the way.)
compact mirror, but he doesn't like to talk about it.
hankies.
IIRC, bullets. He's used the belt plenty of times, mostly to pull out plot devices. Oops, sorry, I meant utilities and gadgets.
Hmm, "Birdie" lie detector? Ammo etc. A Mega-Gameboy?
I was kind of hoping that someone (Logan?) would be able to direct me to the specific prog where Dredd gets something out of his glove pouch.
Come on you know you want to.
During Necropolis, 'Kraken' Dredd get's a PSI judge badge out of his belt pouch.
That's because he killed Psi Judge Agee.
I don't think they're standard issue.
Surely his genitals?
And a rolled-up sock if Bisley's drawing him, obviously.
It's spare ammo. IIRC, the first Dredd RPG had rules on it, describing everything in there.
Presumably there will be all sorts of other bits and pieces, like rations.
Oh, sorry - is this one of THOSE threads?
Okay, he keeps amyl nitrate in there.
And things that vibrate.
And a picture of Christopher Biggins.
Is that okay?
- Trout
Yeah, I'd go for whatever handy plot device.
According to the old Games Workshop RPG...
Birdie
Bleepers
Cuffs
Hand Radio
Infra-red sight
Magazines
Silencer
Medi-Pack
Pollution meter
Stumm grenades
Here's what the NEW JDRPG says about the judge's utility belt [with further additions/corrections by myself].
Regarding Stumm grenades, though Dredd is often seen lobbing them straight from his belt, since the Lawgiver MK2 has a gas round facility, there seemed to be no need for additional grenades in the belt. Makes sense to me.
Dredd gets to try out all kinds of experimental pieces of equipment, so his stash is not what you would call a standard utility belt.

Alternatively, ignore the Lawgiver gas round feature [has it ever been used?] and keep the Stumm grenades :)

You know what I miss?
Cling nets.
What happened to them?
- Trout
There's a lot of Dredd hallmarks missing from the strip these days; it's not so big in scale, the new villains are run of the mill, and - dare I say it - becoming quaint and bland? When other writers come in, they just try to parrot Wagner's style instead of bringing new and fresh ideas into Dredd, or trying to transpose Sinister Dexter situations into Dredd.
- John
All these answers are uninformed piffle! We all know Dredd keeps the following in his utility belt:
Glove puppets
A note from his mum getting out of 'double games'.
An old bus ticket.
Small boot-mirrors, for looking up ladies skirts.
Spare buttocks.
A hat with a bell on it.
Some sandals.
And a necktie.
That's what I think anyway.

Sorry I've just been violently ill
I miss "leg shots".
All this "stun shot" rubbish is weak.
A piece of stale Umpty Candy covered in green fluff.
I miss hi-ex. and KA-BOOM! ANd ricochet. ANd heatseekers.
What is a STUN SHOT anyway?
Tranquilizer dart?
Electric bolt of shockiness?
Minature pictures of Dredd without helmet?
Nah, a double After Shock - THAT'S a stun shot
The glove pouches were the original storage place for heat seeker rounds, on the back of
Prog 34 there was a cut away diagram of the
Lawgiver MKI and it said:
Accessories: Heat Seeker Shells: Stored in Glove pouches ? Maximum 3 per pouch.
The original Heat Seeker shell was manually attached to the end of the barrel and was propelled by a G.P. Shell.

In
Prog 997 Ron Smith Drew a new schematic of the
Lawgiver and even though we?ve seen Dredd selecting or voice activating Heat Seeker shells in the Progs, the diagram still says:
Heat Seeker: A screw on bullet that homes in on body heat.

In
Megazine 3.50 we get the Schematic of the
Lawgiver MKIIand no mention of storage is mentioned for the Heat Seeker and it just appears on the list of ammunition types. The finned bullet at the end of the barrel is no longer shown.

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
A smaller marsupial version of Dredd?
Oh, you mean the pouches on his gloves...
I actually thought of one of those horrendous pouch things you see at the beech......
Yer Slips
Nice one Logan, so after the flawed MKII was found wanting, are they still being introduced or did the Justice Dept just give up on them like Mechismo(sp?) droids?
Wondering Nowhuff.
in his pouch the following
stookie capsules
pictures of himself dressed as a simp.(his one secret)
nipple clamps
and piece of umpty candy.so he can prove he can JUST SAY NO
video slugs of ancient comic books as seen in his early cases.around progs 10-12 i think.
lock of viennas hair.
some of de marcos tail nail clippings.
handful of dust from the former east meg.
corn plasters. Damn them tight boots.
"corn plasters. Damn them tight boots."
LOL!

And dont forget, the Justice badge on the utility belt can be twisted to turn it into a time-bomb.
Now if that was to happen by accident as Dredd got on his bike....
Brings a tear to the eye just thinking about it!
++ And dont forget, the Justice badge on the utility belt can be twisted to turn it into a time-bomb ++
Didn't that only happen in a novel?
- John
++ so after the flawed MKII was found wanting, are they still being introduced or did the Justice Dept just give up on them like Mechismo(sp?) droids? ++
No - both Lawgiver MK2 and Mechanismos are still in operation ... with some programming improvements, of course.

Heakseekers are indeed now part of the Lawgiver's standard magazine arsenal. The gas rounds are attached the the barrel, as the HS once where.

Childhood's End
Megs 2.27 to 2.34

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
Hmmm. Missed that one.
Sorry to labour this one, but I'm pretty fascinated. It must take judges hours to get ready for work.
So, apart from the belt and the glove puches, we've also got the knife in the boot, the gun in the leg holster, the microphone etc in the helmet, attaching the badge and somehow squeezing into the S&M outfit, which is sometimes a catsuit and sometimes a two-piece.
In addition, there's looking after/ loading all the added junk on the bike, like the bike cannon, the rifle/shotgun thing and the never-used-for-years Cyclops laser.
We also know from the Day The Law Died that Lawmasters have their own water supply, and from various other stories that they carry lots of other things, like anti-rad cloaks and pills.
I'm beginning to understand why things like cling nets were dropped.
I'm surprised they even get out the door in the morning.
It's all I can do to remember my keys, my mobile and my fags!
- Trout
I seem to recall that Anderson turned out the contents of her utility belt during Childhood's End - it mainly consisted of ammunition and grenades.
Oh, and a one-shot pistol disguised as a lipstick. Whether Dredd has one of these too is worth thinking about...
The official word on the utility belt content subject must come from John Wagner. When asked by Mongoose Publishing what judges have in their utility belt, the answer was 'No idea.' In other words, Dredd has whatever he needs to overcome plot difficulties :)
When asked how many rounds a Lawgiver has, the answer was the same.
So, decide what you want the utility belt to have :)

I remember it being a device on the back of Dredds badge that turned into a time bomb,Dont quote me but im sure it was in a novel.

I already answered that one in a previous post in this thread.
