Title: Good comic vendor in the UK?
Post by: The Amstor Computer on 22 August, 2003, 02:47:36 AM
Can someone recommend a good mail-order vendor in the UK? I'm currently dealing with Forbidden Planet, but I'm not entirely happy with their service.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem with FP in Manchester.
I now use Comic-Biz in London. Paul there's doing me a great service.

Although I should point out that the problems I had with FP where ones that developed over a period of around 10 years. In fact most of this time, (when the stores were called something else) I recieved nothing but excellent service, to the extent that not only did they treat me and my money with god-like respect, they even told me that the amount I spent was worthy of such treatment. However when the store changed hands (read sold-out) it was a slippery slope, which ended in me moving shops (much to the delight of comic-biz' accountants :-) )

Thanks guys - how do you find these stores when it comes to getting hold of new releases? Are they relatively quick at getting comics that are just shipping?

Comic-biz are able to get just about anything I order both as new releases or back issues. I've had one or two hic-ups, but they were for unusual trades or comics by lesser known publishers which I ordered (in a few cases) after they had already been released.

I haven't tried ACE, but know they've been going for a long time. There are a number of other pretty good vendors out there (who I have used).

Look around, see who suits your needs best (look at their current weekly stock to get an idea if they stock the titles that are likely to interest you).

Here are some other ONLINE shops in UK that I've used for items that I needed to fill in missing issues:

Comix-shop (http://www.comix-shop.co.uk/index2.html)
