I had a fairly long break from reading 2000AD (not far off fifteen years if you're going to push me for a confession) and I'm about to buy the Necropolis collections.
Are there any other books anyone would recommend me reading first, or does the story stand reasonably well on it's own? (I've got quite a few of the anthologies - The Pit, Wilderlands, Doomsday's, Fetish and quite a lot of the Ennis books from Titan).
cheers!

The Dead Man if you can find it is the only essential one, but also the bloodline stuff. Wiser heads than I can show you the way... (tell you which progs)
the pit
likely one of the greastest dredd epics that was written in the last decade.
read the dead man. and be blown away.
and welcome back, markyh.
you have returned to the light and second golden age.
Try and the couple of issues that came before Necropolis, cause thats Bride of Death, a kinda intro for the main event.
And then, of course, theres Oz...
I reckon it stands up pretty well on its` own. You COULD (that`s meant to be italics) get the Dead Man and Oz stories but you don`t have to.
Happy reading. Oh yes, definitely get the Pit which is brilliant. Also Goodnight Kiss.
yours exhaustedly (Tokyo`s summer has finally kicked in) Floyd
Yup, would agree that if you want to get up to speed with the story, start with Oz, then the tale of the dead man then read necropolis, that way, youll have an understanding of who the judda are, and why there are 2 dredds......
Message to graphic novel releasing types:

I always thought Tyranny Rex was green?
I imagine that John Smith was probably on too many drugs at the time to care what colour artists painted her...
