Okay, it was a chocolate digestive, but that's beside the point ...
Whilst visiting the PlayStation Experience with my better half we happened upon Mr. Irvine who was busy dishing out sketches to promote the upcoming Dredd vs. Death game. He was kind enough to chat with us a while about getting into comics as a career and so forth.
He was also nice enough to pen two rather "different" sketches for us: one featuring a character from his next 2000AD outing and this picture of Judge Death and someone quite, er ... familar.
Many thanks again to Frazer :)
Pub meet?
possibility?
Bah, I'm in London the week before. I'll be in Scarborough by then. Anywone want a shopping list?
What are you doing in Scarborough?
I live there by the way.
Pub meet? reckon.
Paul, send me your list and I'll be happy to spend your money for you :)
Meeting up with some old university chums (of all classes) for a week in scarborough 20-26 of September.
Is there anything I should visit?
Heh and is there a car boot fair :)
Thanks Pete, I'll come up with a pretty simple list of stuff I want.
Cheers
Paul
Is that at the same place as it was in Spring, or has it moved venue?
It's great for cheap* old comics / original artwork.
* = by cheap I mean cheap compared to most overpriced places - actually I'd call it 'sensibly priced'.
Just checked the map, yes - same place.
In which case - same pub?
Oddboy, what do you call reasonably priced?
I fancy going but I know if I do I will spend an absolute fortune on art and the few graphic novels I need to complete my collection.
Maybe I'd be better off seeing if some kind person can get me things!
which pub ? what time ?
Opaque - a lot of comics had a tendancy to be priced in p rather then ?... and after I?d spent much of the prior weeks failing to get some of this stuff off eBay it was a real eye-opener.
Marbles - as you exit the comic mart into the courtyard area, turn left and there is a pub in front of you.. I forget the name.
so if a person couldnt make Dredd-con say, would yous recommend this as the next best thing by way of comic malarkie this autumn? & worth a squaxx travelling a million miles for?
Bou - I wouldn't put that much pressure on the ABCD Mart! It's more like jumble-sale then a convension... certainly worth a look-see if you're in the area though.
hmmm, well this is my conundrum, when is the best weekend comix wise to make sure i am in the area? winter fest this ABCD thing? since i'm not talking to Tharg any more & don't care about any stupid old Dredd cons ( still very cross about late organisers btw... womens wrath blah blah )
Bounce !
Just a final reminder this is on on Sunday.
Heh heh... I'm going to be off looking at V2 launch sites in France...
Denied! I can't make it, unfortunately. Due to having watched "Ring" last Sunday I will be dying that day.
Have a drink in my honour won't you?
Anyone else said that, I wouldn't worry, but when Arthur says it, it makes me think he's got hold of an old V2 from somewhere...
Just lend the video to your best mate - quick!
Heh heh heh... I did see an MG42 on sale for only €600...
Oh, and I got all excited when i found out about bloody big gun (http://www.arthurwyatt.co.uk/LeBoom.jpg).
Queenie: there's always a reet good comic doings at the Royal National Hotel (same venue as for this ABCD thing), called the 'National Collectors Marketplace' the first Sunday in the month every two months, the next one being Sunday 5th October.
There's also a similar but smaller doings in Kings Cross at the Camden Centre.
Check: http://www.strictlyink.net/comicmart2/welcome/welcome.html for details.
Your faithful Knight,
Sir Fred of Sarf Larndon.
"Heh heh heh... I did see an MG42 on sale for only ?600..."
That is worryingly affordable, but probably not very easy to conceal in your waistband on the wayt to doing a bank job.
"Oh, and I saw a bloody big gun."
Yup, that's a bloody huge gun - a forerunner for the kind of thing Brit companies get their wrists slapped for trying to export to mad dictators.
