In a previous message Alan Barnes said that this Dredd story could introduce to Dredd?s world a potential new recurring character. Designed by King Carlos no less!
Come on Gordon. Give us a clue. What?s it about. Is it set in the Meg?
Even the title Sturm und Dang sounds intriguing.
If I could work out a way to paste Carlos' original design sketch for the character here, and give you a big clue, I would.
Some one help that man!
Like quick!!

A future Major Easy?
A long walk judge?
It deffo has a look of Major Eazy about him.
Not that theres anything wrong with that!
Looking forward to a potential series already.
Also hope the Dante "cameo" (Club Sov?) is worth the wait.
That's bloody brilliant.
charlie squirrel at his best.
Oh yeah - very Major Eazy. He doesn't drive a classic car around the Cursed Earth, does he? ;-)
Don't recognise the armour designs, but the eagle markings on the shoulder pads look a lot like the ones you see in Dredd.
Anyway, looks good & I'm looking forward to finding out more in next months Meg.
Never caught Major Eazy the first time around- but this looks like a pretty good place for info...
Hmm... Getting that 'teaching your granny to suck eggs' feeling...
Link: Not a long walk judge then...
Yeah, that's Major Eazy. At the end of his stint in Battle he was whisked away to appear in 2000AD by alien entertainers to fight in the arena. But being a bone-idle sod they dumped him in the Cursed Earth.
Man, that is a cool picture.
I reckon he's some kind of Cursed Earth Marshall or something.
No, see, he was caught in the time-warp effect when Thoth scooped up Satanus...
"No, see, he was caught in the time-warp effect when Thoth scooped up Satanus..."
Hey - I thought Gordon was writing this story, not Pat Mills...
"charlie squirrel at his best"
I'd heard that Ezquerra wanted to resurrect Eazy - I guess this is the next best thing!
Nigel
i would put my money on a trained auxillary judge. tek /pilot.seudo military. as with all justice dept.defunct divsion left and forgotten after one of the great disasters.
note the wings on the badge suggesting the pilot element.
"note the wings on the badge suggesting the pilot element."
...Not to mention the aviation goggles.
The pads, badge & gloves back up the Justice Dept link.
If these speculations prove true, I hope he's got more luck than Larter. :-)

I think the winged badge thing is just a standard Justice Department emblem.
It (or something very similar) has certainly appeared before, and not in anything to do with pilots.
defintive major easy look to him.
i agree not a bad thing.(by some one else yes. by BIG E himself thats differnt)
what ever the tie in is. im looking forward to it.
superb looking character.
excellent...
Bou waits patiently & will not play this guessing game malarkie. tum tee tum.
I just hope there isn't a character called Sturm and another called Dang a la
Really and Truly
Sinister (and) Dexter
Bec and Kawl
etc.
Shouldn't it be "drang" -- ?
- Trout
Is that a Justice Dept regulation polka-dot railroad tie he's wearing?
oh, and shouldn't he have a fag in that mush or at least a toothpick?
GRennie, tell us this is not one of the bits o' artwork you burnt ;)
Huffy
Nope. Definitely 'Dang'.
Marginally off_topic, but...
Saw bits of A FIST FULL OF DOLLARS last night, and I?m convinced that my love of Clint westerns is entirely based on Carlos? drawings...
Ah, dang it is, then.
I'm sure all will be revealed.
Y'know, this is possibly the most fun we've ever had here with a single sketch, including Flint's lesbian women and Jock's minimalist Dredd.
Praise be to Carlos!
- Trout
This pic has certainly whetted my appetite.
Any chance of more preliminary sketches of upcoming thrills being printed here?
Hmmmm. "Dang" you say. As in "Dang it, there goes my last bullet, gonna have to take out that Dark Judge with my boot knife!"?
