Title: Prog 2004
Post by: Matt on 13 September, 2003, 09:58:05 PM
Well I'm assuming that the amount of funny threads on the board at the moment can be attributed to the fact that not much is going on in the 2000AD world for us to gossip about. So I wondered if anyone had any gossip or snippets of information as to what we're going to be seeing in the end of year bumper issues of 2k and the meg? I'm still holding out for the return of Ace Trucking Co (with Gibson an art duties this time round), do you reckon it's too late to start petioning Tharg?

um.. I think Slaine is due back in Prog 2004 ? That's all I can think of.

Dante has been mentioned by Simon Fraser, and Slaine, ABC Warriors and Caballistics Inc are my safe bets.

And probably Judge Dredd in there somewhere, rumour has it.

The conclusion to Dan Dare Servant Of Evil?

I'd love to see Ace back, if it was in the tradition of the earlier stuff and not the overlong, unfunny crap it turned into.
Melvin Bragg? Er, okay.

You may be correct, however, that it's too late to start asking for things in it.
How long does such a bumper issue take to put together? Must be at least the three months we have left.

For my own part, I'd love to see Dante turn up in it, and I support any Gibson art at all.

It would be nice to see Lobster Random appear again, too.

"Circumstances" being that you're now a slave to the yankee dollah, or that Gordon's recent Meg bile-rant column thing was all about how naff monster stories are? ;)

What are these bumper issues you're talking about? I'm kinda new, so I don't really know much, if anything at all.

They do a big prog at Christmas so they can take three weeks off, the lazy sods.

My, you're full of questions, aren't you TC?
Happy to help out.

I want to see the return of Robo Hunter, by Rennie and Langridge.

You know it makes sense.

Hmm. A valiant try, but I'm a "no" on that one, Pete.

It has to be Gibson.

I like asking questions, and I'm proud of not knowing much about anything. Eventually, after much more questioning, I might never need to ask anything again...

Pete - good to see someone take up the clarion call! Get Langridge on Robo-Hunter now.

(Ideally as he was 80 when we met him they could be flashback tales to his youth - all steampunk robots and stuff.)

Alan Grant's doing a new Robohunter series, featuring not quite the same S. Slade we're familiar with.

It's mentioned on All The Rage today, so I guess it's now okay to blab it here.

And, yes, I agree that Roger Langridge would be great on Robohunter.  I think I've suggested him for it before.

I might be the only one but wouldn't mind seeing Armoured Giddeon return(always made me laff), more Lobster Random, Atavar 3, Asylum 2, more Dante' ohhh and hows about a all new thrill involving naked women with big guns?

Wouldn't bother with Asylum 2, just reprint Nemesis book 1.

Cabals return in 1362 so they might not be part of prog 2004. I believe Simon Fraser has said Dante is in it though.

There's a 10-page Caballistics story in prog 2004, where we lose a team member.  Probably.

IF it's one of the four main characters, not just that guy who coordinates them, it'll be Verse.  I already feel i know his entire backstory from just a couple of sentences.

Sorry - bad pharsing.  I mean I feel I know him and that it'd be difficult for a surprise to come up in his backstory.  Obviously I can't tell you what his favourite breakfast cereal is, or where he bought his coat.

"10-page Caballistics story in prog 2004, where we lose a team member"

Take note of the language,chums-*lose* a member could be literally that, perhaps to a hellish dimension or something, not necessarily *death* of a character. And he said probably.

I would like to see a bit more Shakara! and wouldn't be averse to an Armoured Gideon return,as even just a one off.

Favourite Logan moment:  Around prog 1350 with the 'yellow cover' controversy, Logan called up thumbnails of every single tooth cover with a yellow background.

As for the "who throws in the bloody towel in Caballistics this Christmas" I'm going with Hannah, unfortunately.  Not that I'd like to see that, mind.

Yeah, new Bogie man. Grrrreat stuff.

Oh, and the cast of Cabals?
Q departments last surviving operatives Professor Brand and Ms. Simmons,
Freeelance occult clean up agents Hannah Chapter and Lauence Verse.
Mysterious, duplicitous Solomon Ravne and the obsequious Mr. Slater.
The backer is Ethan Kostabi.

One of the strongest casts of any new strips in a long while, if you ask me. Compare them to the new V.C.'s who've had double the exposure. How many of the Vacuum Cleaners - The Next Generation can you name? And Smith doesn't count.

Ronsalle the Fuck was out walking one sunny day, when he passed Jones the Post and Dai the Baker going up the hill.
"Where are you off to?" asked Dai.
"I'm off to Mrs Robinson the Grocer, then Miss Smith the Fishmonger", replied Ronsalle.
"Could you fit my wife in this afternoon?" enquired Jones the Post.
"I'll see what I can do", said Ronsalle the Fuck, feeling overworked.
