1000s of judges, all of them committing acts of questionable violence.perspective hard to gauge who was in waht trouble.

surely with the eye in the sky cameras there would be no need.

Seems too much like wet-nursing for Justice Department, and instead of the constant monitoring wouldn't it be less of a drain on resources for the Judge to radio for help should they need it?

If they're incapacitated then it makes sense for there to be some form of health checking system built into the uniform and/or helmet which would automaticly relay a distress message.

Having said that, I've long considered it a good idea for there to be a camera at the back to give a Judge eyes in the back of his/her head.

"drain on resources for the Judge to radio ", could have software filtering out 'looks ok images' and just pop up the occasional ones... the disabled judges at weather control ( i think its them ) could monitor it...

If the visor gives a Judge infra-red vision (which I think it does), there should already be a camera or two built in.

If they wore a 'smart' uniform it would detect heartrate and breathing, and even the pose of the wearer. It could detect a stabbing, or a kosh to the back of the head. In those circumstances a camera could relay images, and a readout on vital signs (like in the Aliens film) to a local Sector House control room.

So in escence I agree, but the monitoring should be done by a smart suit, and other parties alerted if it determines the wearer is compromised or engaged in combat.

The abilty for the smart computer built into the leathereen to detect the postion of the wearer's limbs is what allows the eagle pad to be worn without hampering movement. As a Judge moves his arm the 'feathers' splay. In fact it's impossible for the Eagle feathers to actually touch the wearer except in violent trauma whereupon the nano-servos are too slow to react.

Even older ? in the first Stront tale in 1978 its established that Alphas helmet has a camera ? hidden behind the red dot at the front

actually... i would like to at this point tell you all about the latest smart firefighters helmets & all the gizmos they contain. but since it'll be another 200 years until they get this far north, its just a load of old hearsay really & i don't actually know if they can see thru smoke & have cameras n that.

They do have thermal imaging cameras, which (don't ask me how it works) can detect people inside buildings.

thats the heat signature int it, which would be rather buggered up if the fire is still going, but then if the buildings actually on fire, you'd be looking for fatalities not casualties anyway.

Hey Bou, my brother in law is a paramedic and he says you firefighters don't need fancy helmets because all you are is glorified drip stands.  He said they refer to you normal firefighters as "buttercups" and to the chief as "snowdrop".

Isn't inter-service rivalry a wonderful thing?

What do you Firey lot call paramedics and police?

There's a webcam in the pool of Shamu the Orca  at Seaworld in FLorida (shamu.cam). Terrible that the ppor thing is locked up but you don't half get some scary images of black and white and teeth coming at you!

I spent this evening in the company of four full teams of firefighters, at a fascinating little fire in Blairgowrie.

Make a sentence using the following words: suspicious; CID; investigation; evacuation; baby; mother; balcony; jump.

It was not an entertaining evening.

However, the firefighters were professional, reassuring and damn tough bastards. It's amazing what they'll risk to save a life.

Full marks to Bou's firey chums!

Been going for four years.  The show Shamu Rocks America has this quality intro **ahem** where it shows the states of america then flags from around the world.  When the union jack was shown previously it got boo-ed (all those brits playing bad guys in films pays off), this year a huge cheer.  Guess backing the americans, gained us some fans eh?

"What do you Firey lot call paramedics and police? "

generally, in the firey context & not my own opinion you understand we call them, 'paramedics' ( who we are always glad to see ) and useless 'c**ts who do f**ck all but stand around scratching their A**es'.  it seems the latters job at a car crash say, is to er... shrug occasionally & leave traffic control to civvies or us. leave the casualties personal effects in a ditch & not bother finding out their name or anything. just a general observation on inter emergency service relations. *

Trouty, hope you stayed downwind of smoke, nasty stuff. CID are always called out for House fires. scary things. last one i did got so hot the windows had fused with wine bottles into a glass blob.

que pic of me in action...

* nothing to do with personal opinion as tall scary boys in blue have rescued me from crazy stuff on more than one occasion.

you know bou
i really have two buddies who are just this.back in the UK.
mark a paramedic and chris is a copper.

your summing up of there actaul actions at the scene i would vouch to be true.based on a few drunken get togethers when they trade stories on the last time they ended up attending to the same incident.

i may cut and paste your post to mark the para medic. im sure he woudl agree with you 100%.
