Has anybody watched this yet?
I just did, and it's pretty bloody good.

I mught have a go at that later.
Bit cheeky I know, but I'm flogging some of My brothers Tom Baker Doctor Who's off on video for him over on e-bay. Not many bidders on them, so there still quite a few pretty cheap. Ends Sunday 11 onwards.

Yeah, it's pretty good isn't it? I really enjoyed it, thought it was a belting start. Good script, good acting, good design. What more could you want?
A cheese and pickle sandwich.
What? I've been working all day and I'm hungry.

Couldn't manage a butty but I could probably rustle up some prawn balls...
Blinding start. Richard E Grant did a great job. Best Doctor since Peter Davison. Not that that is saying much mind.
"Okay condition paperback with wear that features 250 monsters from the FF world. Has some graffitti which seems to revolve around the previous owner naming the creatures after his teachers. E.g. Mrs Zaler is a cryptstalker and Mrs Holland is a Bristle Beast. No additional stats included for teachers."
LOL!
That's very funny. Bog all to do with Shalka though.
But does Shalka have as good a line? I've watched the first part, and REG is a bit shouty, but other than that all seems good - will watch the rest over the weekend
Um, there's only one part out so far. So you'll have to wait till next thursday.
Meant the first 5 minutes Aggy - just watched the rest - good stuff, though hope the mystery over why they havent called in UNIT types will be explained soon... REG wasnt as bad as his shouty sulky entrance line made him out to be, though he could have sold that "I deal with monsters" line a bit more convincingly IMO.... otherwise, some nice trad Who.
It's a bit... um.... Thundercats. In a sort of "I'm doing something so I'll talk about it whilst I'm doing it so that everyone knows I'm doing it, look, here I am, doing it..." sort of way.
But the Doc looks cool.
Ah right sorry Watcher me old son.
Nicw to see the beeb making an effort seeing as it's the Doc's anniversary next sunday.
I think it's simply splendid. You heard me, splendid.
For any Doctor Who fans who don't know UK Gold are having a whole weekend dedicated to him next weekend (22nd & 23rd)
And I think BBC1 are showing a 'special new episode' on sunday night next week?
New episode eh?
Sounds intriguing.
yeah, this was good fun. Don't like what they've done with the theme music though. When will they stop arseing about and just accept that the Delia Derbyshire version will never be betterd?
Delia whatnow?
I thought the music was alright.
Yeah me too. I had my volume up too high and when it kicked in it was shiv scary.
Very nearly shat myself when the music kicked in at the end. Thought you didn't like Doctor Who?
Can someone clear a question up for me? Is this animated Who the "new Doctor Who" they were promoting, or is there a live action version to come? And if there is, will it be Richard E Grant playing the Doctor for sure?
No, there is a new TV series planned. It won't air for at least 3 years though, and no decision's been made about casting.
Theres various who related bits and pieces in the Times today, including a quote from Paul Cornell.
Did he mention his new book - British Summetime, out now in hardback, paperback out in February - in it?
Hmm, animated Dr Who series might just work, let's face it, they couldn't get away with the cheap effects these days could they? A new live-action series would cost a bomb and might wind up like that re-vamped Randall & Hopkirk crap.
I didn't mind Randall and Hopkirk. Problem is you just don't have the same calibre of writers. Those old shows were like clockwork.
If they were doing animated shows they should have tried to get awkward bugger Tom Baker involved. To be honest I'm sick to the back teeth of Argonaut Reichard E. Grant.
You know, I'm not sure it does, which is funny, since British Summertime also features time travel, but in a radically different manner which sff.net describes as "a Socialist mystery wrapped up in a Christian enigma".
Its 341 pages BTW.
Many thanks! I checked out episode 1 this morning.
Are they going to do a live action show with Richard E Grant? Is Dr Who coming back?
takes me back,
Floyd
Thanks for the interest and the kind words, everyone. Two episodes of Shalka are now up on the BBCi Who website (and we got onto Blue Peter yesterday!) Russell T. Davies new live-action Doctor Who will be on in 2005, and nobody knows who his Doctor will be.
And thanks for mentioning British Summertime. Normally I do that wherever I go, but this time you did it for me. Ta!
>>And thanks for mentioning British Summertime. Normally I do that wherever I go
Yes, Paul. We already noticed...
And thanks for mentioning it again. Paperback edition out in February, you know.
Is there anything you want to plug, Gordon..?
Me, I should think.
i have seen it ( and episode 2 ) with my shiny new 512k adsl modem ( yeaaaa speeed rules ) ..
its very kewl, its probably much better to have dr who like this than very bad monsters due to tiny budgets....
animation..comics strip...mmm...idea...
Must...resist...smutty...inuendo...
