tooth is sci-fi
its british sci-fi at that
dr who strip ?, why not eh ?... get those who fans reading tooth !
That is actually a really good idea and I can't believe Thargy hasn't thought of it. But then there is the copyright question and the Doctor does have his own magazine with comic strip.
Errr yeah and the fact that some of us, dont actually like Dr Who.......... I think its an awful idea
Yer Slips
the coctor is in permanent state of limbo at present but i quite likled the last tv movie
should have been on at the cinema though and bigger budget
they are talking about making him goofy again
*doctor not coctor
ahem
sorry about that
normal service will now resume
The Doctor Who series is coming back in 2005 on BBC 1. Limbo no longer. Also there's a cracking cartoon going on on BBCi at the moment.
for some reason every one likes mccoy, - i didnt like that one
and i think they ive it to mr izzard or alan davies, someone strange anyway (davies could work)
Izzard has said catergorically he's not doing it and no names have been confirmed as yet. Russell T Davies is writing it. Thats all anyone knows.
british sci-fi is too small to stand alone, stick it all in tooth and tooth can take over the world !
Much as I like 2000AD, and much as I like Dr Who, best to keep 'em seperate.
Besides thr publishers of 2000AD and Dr Who Magazine might not be interested.
Personally I'd rather see a new strip than Dr Who in there.
Cheers
Paul
Well the best Doctor Who stories I've ever seen were by Wagner, Mills and Gibbons, but that was another era... I often sit here idly wonderng (actually I don't, but I am now) what would have happened if the BBC had recognised how good those scripts were and actually hired Mills and Wagner... Could have saved Doctor Who, but almost certainly killed 2000AD... Thank Goodness for the Beebs blinkered bureacrats!
They'll be collected in the new year, so everyone can enjoy them. And no need to put the Doctor into 2000AD - hurrah...
I've necer really paid any attention to the comics tbh. might have to have a look now though.

Heard on Radio 4 yesterday, today(?) that Bill Nighly, see above, is the latest actor to be connected with playing the new Dr. Who.
Even though he expressed an interest in the role he said no-one at the BBC has approached him
as yet..Hummm... thoughts anyone?
If he doesn't make Doctor, perhaps a possible Master?

Don't forget McMahon's Dr. Who Watcher..

Pat Mills was actually commissioned by Christopher H. Bidmead to write a script called 'Song of the Space Whale' - however, it was well and truly scuppered by Eric Seward.
There's a very Blitzspear-like 'space whale' CGI thing on one of the Doctor Who DVD's - can't remember which one, though.
Other comics guys who nearly wrote for Doctor Who include Christopher Priest, who's script 'Sealed Orders' was well and truly scuppered by Eric Seward, and Alan Moore was approached to do something by Andrew Cartmel, but he said no.
Cartmel advised all the McCoy writers to read 'The Ballard of Halo Jones', you know.
He also sent copies out to various designers/writers and that sort of person. I've often thought that the pool cleaners from 'Paradise Towers' has a Gibson vibe about it.
"Pat Mills was actually commissioned by Christopher H. Bidmead to write a script called 'Song of the Space Whale' - however, it was well and truly scuppered by Eric Seward"
Which "mutated" (a-hem) into Mutomaniac - get McMahon back on the job immediately! :)
have to agree with Paul here, much rather see the space go to something completely new. NOw I know where they got the Richard E Grant rumour for Dr Who casting obviously from the animated show thats on now...I reckon he'd make a fine live action doctor..

AFAIK, it wasn't the same Christopher Priest.
Panini's licence to publish Doctor Who strips is exclusive - no-one else could do it, even if they wanted to.
And you can read a brilliant appreciation of Pat Mills' Star Beast strip in the DWM 'We Love Doctor Who' special, on sale now. Written by some cheap hack called Alan Barnes, I believe, but don't let that put you off.

ah we need the "Dead BBC Sci-fi show" comic, featuring Survivors, Blakes 7 and The Further Adventures of Quatermass
Except of course it would be crap.
Jim
'AFAIK, it wasn't the same Christopher Priest.'
WHAT? But I read it in 'Doctor Who - The Completely Useless Encyclopedia' by Chris Howerth and Steve Lyons, so it must be true!
'ah we need the "Dead BBC Sci-fi show" comic, featuring Survivors, Blakes 7 and The Further Adventures of Quatermass. Except of course it would be crap.'
I don't know, the Blake's 7 comic strip from Marvel's 'Blake's 7 Monthly' was quite good.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Glad someone agrees with me.
It would be a definite negative for me....and depending whats in the prog I might not pick it up....
yer "contraversially" Slips
I beleive the new makers of Who? are going to be BBC Wales
"Heard on Radio 4 yesterday, today(?) that Bill Nighly, see above, is the latest actor to be connected with playing the new Dr. Who."
He gets my vote. Definitely not Richard E. Grant
BBC Wales production?
That'll be Doctor Huw then.
Oh,my aching sides.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
Apart from the question of whether it would work (it wouldn't IMO - fond as I am of the Doctor, his aesthetic just wouldn't it in with 2k's), not to mention the question of the licensing, I don't think it would ever happen simply because there's no advantage whatsoever for Who in being in 2K. It has, let's face it, a far bigger fanbase, I'd guess that far more 2K fans are also Dr Who fans than the other way around. So why should the powers that be give Tharg something which is clearly more to his benefit than theirs, except for a very large sum of money? Money which IMO would be far better spent creating something new.
The news about Dredd appearing in Metro is rather more exciting, this is good publicity for 2K, and presumably Tharg's getting a reasonable royalty for the use of the character.
