I would love to see some more of Chris Achhilleos art work in 2000AD. Even if it was just another cover. Better than that would be a whole story line with his art work in it.
Any input?
More?? When did he ever do any?
go to the wallpaper section for Durham Red
OMFG u dont know this artist? ok as far as im aware this is, or was a one off for 2000AD, but if uv'e never seen his work b4 u'd better go to a bookshop or search the web and check his work out! i think he has done Anderson b4 as in Judge PSI. Dont question b4 u know ask.
I think this is what he's getting at.

Pretty dull if you ask me but then you're not.
Didn't he also do that series of covers which made up a poster? About the time of the movie weren't it?
Idiot me
Who? Never heard of him. I'm serious.
And that's a very meaty Durham Red there. Looks like she's packing a bit too much silicon up top, if you know what I mean.
Not really my cup of tea.
Hi-Ex
I didn't like it either, primarily because Red looks totally stoned (I mean, look at those eyes...)
As for the Foss cover, I didn't like that either, although I found it faintly amusing that the Judges ordered two right arms for their statue. D'oh.
I belive Chris got Morrigan Hel (fetish model - appeared in a lot of Cradle of Filth shoots and shows up in Metal Hammer quite a lot) to model for that picture.
Least I saw a video diary type programme on her on Channel 4, and at one point she says she's off to model for Chris for a pic of Durham Red. Not to mention that it looks like her, right down to the impressive decolletage.
Sorry to say this, cos you obviously like him, but for me the artwork displayed here and on his website (link below) just sums up all the limitations of the "fantasy" genre.
He proudly stereotypes women ("beautiful, erotic, cold and unnattainable?" Puh-lease), all his men are musclebound Conans, and I bet he's touting for extra work now Saddam Hussein's no longer in the collecting business. The airbrushed artwork is pretty unappealing in terms of a comic strip, with no dynamism to any of the figures (though of course that might change if he were to draw a strip).
And the Durham Red cover is just awful - I thought so at the time and the repeat viewing hasn't changed my opinion. The fear in Durham's eyes and shape of her mouth make her a victim, one thing this particular heroine's never been, and the submission implicit in her pose cements that impression. The colouring is also pretty poor.
I guess you could say I'm not a fan - just a personal opinion, of course.

He's recently done a big billboard spread for Ford - for the street ka.....
Well obviously that ur opinion and welcome to it, and i dont have a problem with ur opinion not one bit. We r all entitiled to our opinions same as my feelings on art work by Picasso and van gogh personally i wouldn't ever hang one of thier piccys on my wall even if i had the money.
So then Dudley who's ur fav artist? remember it,s all in the eye of the beholder;)
"Least I saw a video diary type programme on her on Channel 4"
Yep, I saw that, there's a thread here somewhere where someone confirms it. I'd thought it was Mark Harrison and was corrected.
Grud! I've posted 1378 messages here! Um, anyway, can't find it, too long ago to find it in my posts.
