I liked the review, particularly the line about "what comics have done since WW2 - appropriate politics" and the bit about gay behaviour in the media. I too am tired of TV shows and movies patting themselves on the back for introducing gay characters but being timid about what those characters might actually do. Usually they just act friendly in a kind of gay way.
You were right about the title pre-judging the issue too.

It probably helped, however, that I hated that damn storyline.
