Got a hulk doll! My girlfriend found out that when i was a kid, a horse ate the head of my hulk toy....apparently it thought it was an apple! Also dvd's cd's and games. Spoilt, me! :-p
Found that my (ex)girlfriend got me Top Ten 1 and 2, along with a few decent DVDs and Necropolis which I'd been hankering after... Now wondering if she isn't a keeper and worth going to extraordinary lengths to win back...
Well I've only opened one so far (we do lunch and THEN open pressies) but my ex got me a jamie oliver cooking apron (no, I don't know why either)
She also got me a personal DNA testing kit ...
Not quite sure what she's trying to tell me ...
I've been spoiled, as a King should be.
My perfect wife bought me a Halo Jones page!
It's the one where Toby chases Halo into the Clara Pandy engine room: "Wanna hear the bad news?" *Infrared activated*
I'm utterly thrilled! Many thanks to Wake for being Santa's zarjaz helper!
Other splendid gifts included a Scotland rugby top and some terrific Justice League animated series action figures, which my parents have sent across the Atlantic.
They're actually pretty cool. I got Superman, Green Lantern and the Flash, and I've already torn them out of the boxes.
A friend also got me a flying Superman, which you hang from the ceiling. I foresee drunken fun on Hogmanay!
I'm on call today, and just popped into the office to check on things, but now I'm heading home to read my incredibly rude Viz book, or possibly just to stare at the Sports Illustrated Calendar my sister got me! :-)
Hope everyone's Christmas - sorry, Troutmas - is as merry as mine!
- Tinsel-covered Trout
whahey ! all the kids are smiling !. due to teen being on PC until after 4.30am, santa couldnt sneak in here until late. Still he wrote another interesting letter to the wee one about world peace, reindeer etc...

Im sat at my dad's in my brother's bedroom having just endured a christmas lunch on a stomach full of becks beer! Feeling slightly nauseous now....
Prezzie wise - had most of the stufff before today, my best mates bought me my NYE ticket to a club in Coalville called PASSION, which bodes for a messy night! apart from that, got the usual clothes n cd's, im not lucky enough to gt artwork sniff sniff.....
Many thanks to Wake for being Santa's zarjaz helper!
No problem.
So far, I've got the Two Towers extended DVD (with the Gollum figure) and the Indiana Jones boxed set - both from my lovely wife.

I like Christmas, me.
Christmas in the replica household tends to spread to boxing day, as that's when brother #3 and his wife & kids are coming up, along with brother#1. Today I got a couple of books off parents (the kind of thing which is only ever bought as a present ;)) Dr Who and Phoenix Nights DVDs off my sister and bro#4. Bro#2 was here, but as he's broken his leg and is immobile, he's got bro#3 to buy all his presents, so that's another one for round 2 tomorrow. And I got a cd of some Norwegoian death metal band off very old pal I visited xmas eve. and I believe there may be posty pressies from other pals waiting for me when I go home after the weekend :)
Best presents this year tho were long heartfelt and happy conversations with old friends :)
Well, my nephew managed to get a virus that looked scarily like meningitus for a while, what with funny rash and all ...
Scared the living sh*t out of us, so he did ...
Erm
Medal of Honour Rising Sun
Necranaughts, Button man and a dilbert book
A coin tray (my wifes attempt at a joke, I always have loose change)
A Dressing Gown
A replica old style radio
Thats all, but Im taking my daughter sk8boarding today (she got a brand new skate board) and we have lots of transformers power rangers and other boys toys (skelextric) to keep any drunken adults happy.....
Yer "merry Xmas" Sli[ps
"Well, my nephew managed to get a virus that looked scarily like meningitus for a while, what with funny rash and all ... "
Bummer. I hope he's alright now. My youngest caught some sort of bug, and spent the whole day throwing up and being miserable. He didn't even look at his pirate ship from the ELC, though he's making up for it somewhat today.
Survivors series one on DVD and Romero's The Crazies plus sundry well-intentioned tat. Basically I'm having a plague-obsessed Christmas.
He's fine now, thanks Rac.
After waiting till 2.30am for a doc to turn up it now sounds like the little fella's got a virus and is just cranky. Still, for a moment there we panicked ...
hope he has a quick recovery,
better safe than sorry with these things, often in young uns a simple cold or virus can produce a nettle type rash.
I got a super duper guitar pedal thingy and some cool threads (man) as well as the usual jumpers and socks. Stupid (and stupefying) amounts of wine and choccy too. Tres envious of Trouty's pressy though, fortunate fishy that he is.
Round 2... at last, someone had the sense to give me booze and chocolate! plus a very big and possibly pretentious book about Bob Dylan, cd's of folk I've never heard of, more books...
my niece gave my brother a toy reindeer that dispenses small round brown sweets out of its arse. tsk, kids, eh?
Lets see:
Dress shirt, pants, and a matching tie
Three computer games
undies
Animatrix DVD
Mighty Bruce DVD
a jar of Amish Salsa
tin of butter cookies
a pair of denims
One thing I asked for and didn't get was Evanescene : Fallen CD.
Will
Dear Hubby desperatly needed some socks and pants so decided to wait till Christmas as he ALWAYS gets them as a prezzie. Guess what? this year he didn't get one, not a sniff of one. He was not happy at all.
wierd co-incindence that rac.. we had a call from our sons child minder this morning. A child who they visited two days back has gone down with meningitis.
so we've been told to keep a very close eye. He seems ok at the moment.
i on the other hand, still have the bloody virus i've had for over a month. It keeps seemingly coming full blown, then subsiding, then comes back again. gone on my chest now and my glands are up big time and i feel utterly poopy. Joy.
i got:
tv/video for bedroom (joint present from myself and helen too myself and helen)
amped 2 game
Martin Johnson Autobiography
World Cup DVD
CD's : Coldplay, the Darkness and John Renbourne (which being a folky old soul is just wonderful for me to chill out too).
Various undergarments
Slippers
Sports shoes
Castle Greyskull (technically this is Mawgans but i get to "help him" play with it. tee hee.
very pleased i am.
Hey Fishy, John Renbourne lives up here (Borders) and I saw him at Traquair Fair this year, most chilled out was he :-)
I got a shelving unit. Which is nice.
Plus the usual...biography of a dead postwar comedian with a depressingly bleak private life. Releases from the B.B.C. Spoken Word/Radio series. Shaving paraphenalia. Crossword puzzle stuff. Script book tie-in to a telly series. Chocolates. Christmas has a 'Groundhog Day' like quality for me. Not that I'm complaining, mind.
I also got a compilation of comedy songs which has at least one that's new to me. Frankie Howard and June Whitfield sing 'Up J'Taime' which is very funny indeed. There's also some obscure Spike Milligan tracks which is as good as it gets, obviously.
how was Renbourne live Mr zeepers creepers?
Had a great Christmas, didn?t even mind that I had my Gran, Mrs Logan?s mother, two sisters (one with husband and two kids in tow)
From various relatives and especially her indoors managed to get:
Band Of Brothers on DVD
The Slings & Arrows Comic Guide by Frank Plowright

Judge Dredd vs. Aliens Incubus Graphic Novel

Necronauts

Babylon 5
Series One, Two & Three on DVD

Private Eye Annual

The Cage

A Watch, some marbles, a light for attaching to a book so you can read at night, a white Toblerone, and some cash
The in laws left today so finally managed to open the envelopes with Prog 2004 and Meg 214 and gonna pour out a very large Vodka with Russian mixer, a couple of ice cubes and a slice of lemon & with my feet up gonna get my Christmas injection of Thrill Power.
La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
Wa-Hey! Weapons ranger Logan gets my vote for best pressies evaaah! Although I did get a good guirar thingy :-) (pissesd zeeeep)
AAAhhhh!!! but where was the cuddly toy?
Babylon 5
Series One, Two & Three on DVD
Ah, you lucky sod ... Some of us are stuck with the crappy, breakable videotapes ...
Are they good?
Dredd vs Death (PC)
The Extraordinary Works of Alan Moore
Daredevil DVD (which I'll be grudgingly taking back - waiting for the director's cut)
New Eddie Izzard DVD
...and a whole bunch of other stuff!
Not a bad haul, but somewhat overshadowed by general unpleasantness & badwill to all men (particularly me)...
how was Renbourne live Mr zeepers creepers?
Sorry Fishy, I intended to reply to that but ended up writing a pissed load of crap instead. Note to self: If you have to close one eye to focus, you're too pissed to type. Or indeed operate heavy machinery.
But in answer to your question, he was very laid back and gentle as you would expect, perfect music for a sunny afternoon outdoors which it was. We seem quite spoiled for folky type stuff round here, some of the Incredible String Band live quite nearby as does Rory McLeod and many less well known but highly talented musos.
Right. Back to the hangover ;-/
Scotland rugby top, League of Gentlemen 3, Medal of Honour: Rising Sun, some poncey aftershave, a talking Dalek(which ROCKS! but I have no idea where to put)
Reading up the board has a big bus turned up and taken all our relatives and partners shopping to the same place?
Possibly.
Let's get together in the chatroom sometime, JimBob, wearing our identical tops... :-)
Although I suspect yours may be a smaller size!
- Trout
you both got Scotland rugby tops?
That's nice that, the doom and gloom mungers woul dhave you think rugby has died completely in Scotland and nobody supports it.
Nice to see some proof that isn' true.
zeep. sounds good. hope i get to see him one day.
Does his old pentangle buddy Jansch live there too?
Is Renbourne Scottish?
New dressing gown (not quite Arthur Dent-stylee, but I can pretend), enough vouchers to buy my own branch of M&S, a lovely wooden carving of two naked figures embracing (no, none of that dirty stuff - all very tasteful!), the Darkness CD (that'll go straight back on Monday to be swapped for the new Peter Gabriel), and a mug with my children's faces on it (ahhhhh).
Nigel
Bert Jansch is dull! Duller than Scottish rugby, IMO. ;-)
I had (thankfully free) tickets to see him at a local festival, and, boy, was he up himself.
He showed off his truly astonishing talent, with amazing musical technique, but somehow forgot to do anything entertaining.
He was so painfully aware of his talent that he kept assuming everyone in the crowd knew all about his past career, which of course many people did not.
Pentangle? Er, heard of them, but they're hardly the Beatles.
I almost fell asleep, then left at the interval and wrote a generally kind review, against my better judgement.
- Trout
Somehow I managed not to get any 2000ad pressies despite askling for DvD and 4 GN's
And I won't have the money to buy them until Feb :(
Unless someone wants to swop various duplicate gn's I have for them!
I was going to report that Fallen by Evanescence is reduced in the Virgin sale, but then I realised it was Critter who was looking for it and he lives in the States.
Oh well. It's probably cheaper at full price over there, Will!
I also have depressing news.
MVC have reduced Dredd vs Death to half price - just ?20.
sigh
- Trout
Playstation 2!!! And Eye-toy + Eye-toy Groove & Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (Which everyone should rush out and buy, despite the fact that Ubisoft made me redundant 2 Christmases ago...)
And some Star Wars Lego :)
Steve
I can pick it up at Wal-Mart for about $13.88, that about 7.38GBP. I'll wait til my first paycheck in January and get it then. As for the Dredd vs Death its about $50.00 here in the states, just a little over 28GBP.
Will
Hey, Yawl.
I got an Indy Heroclix starter set (Johnny, Wulf and Judge Fire!)
Wolves of Calla! Only been reading the gunslinger since I was 18, so I'm kinda excited about this.
Shadow of the Hegemon (Orson Scott Card) Latest in the Ender-verse stories.
A new Calvin and Hobbes collection (but dont tell the mrs I have the individual volumes already :#
A dvd player (With T3 and LXG) T3 is okay, might watch LXG tonight after consuming too much alcohol.
Kids got the best stuff though.
Bolt-01
Wolves of the Calla: You will not be disappointed, my friend.
>Are they good?
yup.
Logan.
>AAAhhhh!!! but where was the cuddly toy?
Mrs Logan?s family have a tradition that on Boxing Day they go to a beach and paddle in the freezing December water, god knows why. As we had them all at ours this year we drove the 30 miles to Great Yarmouth and there they paddled in the grotty water.
Whilst walking up the sea front the mother in law went to powder her nose and the kids took the chance to spend a few quid in an arcade. Me & Mrs Logan stood by the door waiting for the mother in law, right next to a line of those machines full of teddy bears that you try and grab with some spindly looking claw. Most of them were full of crap rip off copies but one had a decent looking pooh bear that Mrs Logan took a shine to. I tried to explain that no one ever won and it was just designed to take as much money as possible without giving anything away. Anyway I shoved in my 20p hit the buttons and sent the claw on its way, and was amazed when not only did the claw attach itself to the teddy but also managed to drop it in the hole. Mrs Logan was impressed, her sister jealous that her hubby was so useless that he couldn?t win her won.

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
Logan: Those grabber things are Evil.
Did you make your win AFTER reading prog 2004? If so, you know why you got it.... THRILL-POWER!

Joolz
respect to 'i can do the grabber' logan, those things are dam difficult
Trouty:
sounds similar to other comments i've heard about Jansch live.
i have to say i very much enjoy his music though.
hi all

Dredd V Death. (bloody ace)
timberland shoes
Adam and the ants, Prince Charming Revue (dvd)
two ball white hot golf putter.

Got enough cash to put towards a 28" widescreen telly, thats getting delivered within 2 weeks!
Also scarf, gloves and dressing gown from the missus,
some socks,
and a fantastic gun from my sister that fires sponge discs and makes lots of bleeps and other futuristic noises.
Great for pissing off the cat!
Baxk after Christmas!
I got...
DVD's: Dog Soldiers (which I've still not seen), Shanghai Knights and Road to Perdition
A jumper with "I'm the Daddy" on it (!?!?)
Lord Of the Rings ROTK Soundtrack
War of the Rings PC-CDROM (which wont work as my 3-D card driver needs updated)
OKay haul in all (for me anyway)
Hey Wooley on't tell my dear hubby you got socks. He'll be well jealous!
The socks were from my gran.
Which means that they only just reach over my ankles, are made from a fabric so thin that when i pull them up they almost disappear, and are in a style that i assume went out of fashion before my gran was born!
However, its better than last year when she got me girls socks!
With pictures of dogs on them.
I'm not joking!
Well, I got a load of Bronze Age Marvel from my girlfriend in Egypt. Comics dirt cheap out there. Especially Bronze and Silver Age - they're old you see. Who wants to buy old comics?! (I'm sure there's got to be an Action Comics #1 or Amazing Fantasy #15 kicking about for a few piestere)
I did spy the odd 2000AD out there too.
"However, its better than last year when she got me girls socks!
With pictures of dogs on them. "
Haha!! My mum did the same thing to me a few years ago. Lovely white socks with little red dogs on them... but I showed her, I bloody wore them!
grannies get great presants don't they, mine used to buy my dad aftershave every year, he's had a beard since 1964. & presants for the kids were always 10 years too young, & i always got nice african tan 2000 denier tights. mmm nice.
awwwww ! someone who i'm trying to avoid just turned up with a big fluffy teddy bear to cheer me up... i am not nor ever have been a teddy bear person, but how sweet!.... i think ?.
my friends rather eccentric parents (heading towards barking mad) got their four year old grandson a remote control plane !! with a 14+ label on it!!
myself and richard can't wait to play with it. It's rather powerful and would do rather a lot of harm to little Luke himself.
Awful bloody Christmas, ended up having very serious row with my mum, God I hate families sometimes.
But let's not forget what it's all about - PRESENTS!
2 top ones among the crap...
Road to Perdition from my wife - superb choice, am surprised to find myself enjoying it tremendously.
RAW SPIRIT by Iain Banks - can't recommend this highly enough. It's one of those random books you have to be famous already to get away with publishing (drive round Scotland trying whiskies while protesting about the Iraq war) and all the better for it. God I love Scots writers when they're like this.
...Dudley
I cooked my first Xmas dinner.....
...i now understand the true meaning of Xmas stress!
"God I hate families sometimes"
you think you got problems !
just money really - but i bought myself the first 3 issues of 2000Ad with it
which was good, i never read prog 2 until that day
:-)
I got one game, the Office scripts and tons of chocolate. I bought 3games fom Woolworths in the aftermath.
I got the following (some shared with Oddgirl)
A cd-mixer magizmo
some PS2 games - XIII, Futurama & Buffy:Chaos Bleeds
DVDs - Back to the Future box & Indiana box, plus Tenacious D, Danger Mouse, The Matrix Reloaded & Pirates o the Caribbean.
Clothes: two pairs of jeans, two t-shirts, pants & socks, a shirt & a tie that's way too POWER SALESMAN for me. And some boots.
Music: The Beatles' Let It Be Naked
A cuddly teddy bear that, when plugged in to the telephone, moves & talks on behalf of the caller on the other end - it's great everyone should get one!!
Comicwise: V for Vendetta (not read it yet), the Buffy Annual 2004 (pretty sucky really, got it as a kinda joke, I think)
& Cheers to Logan for the loan of A History of Violence which I read over Christmas. Sheesh, what a sick, sick last chapter. What was Mr Wagner thinking?? Excellent book!
Interesting watching Matrix 2 yesterday - I think I understand who/what Neo is now.
Hes Jesus. Its crap.
I asked for peace on earth but that seems to have been forgotten about however I did get:
A mountain bike (which is nice because my son got one as well so we can go cycling together)
Smallville Series One on DVD
Top Ten books 1 and 2
A Lord of the Rings book and Calendar
Two James Bond films on DVD
Not forgetting... Socks
Brilliant - not a duffer amongst them.
