Title: What non-comic entertainment are you looking forward to this year?
Post by: Krustabi on 08 January, 2004, 05:25:49 PM
I have been racking my brains about this for ages, and previously all I've thought of was Metal Gear Solid 3. Then i was reminded on 4Music last night that there's a new Air album coming out. Aside from this i draw a blank. Any suggestions

Depends if Spiderman 2 is 'non-comic'... Harry Potter 3, no matter how good or bad it is... quite a few films actually, looking good at the mo.

Is the PS3 being previewed this year?

Ive already got a sneaky promo copy of the new Air album.....

...and its absolutely spanking!
Titled 'Talkie Walkie'.
Imagine the progressive nature of the last album, with a little bit more of the sound of earlier Air releases.

Not much of a review, i know!
But get it when its released, its well worth it.

I'm looking forward to the new Fant?mas album released at the end of the month, the possibility of Tomahawk's cancelled European tour from last year actually going ahead and possibly seeing A Perfect Circle at the beginning of February (either in Birmingham or Manchester).

Got this from a forum dated 20/12/03:

This is from the latest e'zine from Orbit books:

"Claire Little from Okeford wants to know 'where has my favourite SF author vanished to?!' After grilling her for a few more details, Ezine are happy to present the following response: Mr Iain M Banks spent some time giving his enormous brain a well-earned rest after creating such SF classics as Look to Windward, Inversions and Excession. But he's now back at his writing desk, penning a new SF novel which Orbit have scheduled for publication in August of next year. The book doesn't have a title just yet, but rumour has it that the content will be something very new. Something not Culture. And beyond that, Claire, Ezine has nothing to say ... for now!"

Amazon have an untitled Iain M Banks book currently dated for release 30th July (guessing that'll be pushed back as it's still untitled).

Silent Hill 4.  RotK Extended.  The "Pixies to reform in 2004" rumour from last September being proven true, except it was doubtless a vile lie and won't happen.  Erm...that's it, I think.  Oh yeah, the latest Malazan Book of the Convoluted would be nice.  Amazon told me it was out months ago, but lied.

Shrek 2, Hellboy, Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, Envy, School Of Rock, Dawn Of The Dead (remake with slightly less preposterous plot and super violent and animalistic 28 days later style zombies), House of the Dead, Alone In The Dark, Spidey 2, Eurotrip (or whatever it's called for purile fun), Chronicles of Riddick, Club Dread (hey, I liked Super Troopers, okay?), The Butterfly Effect, 50 first Dates, Garfield, The Day After Tomorrow and the new Resi movie: Apocalypse.

To name but a few...

No silly. Just taking out the coincidental 'survivors happen upon a mall' by the sound of it - its about the mall workers. But I'm not sure on that. And what's so preposterous about zombies?? Haven't you played resi?

>I heard a rumour The Jam are reforming for a week of gigs at Knebworth in the Summer, that's something to look forward to.

Mrs Logan is a big Jam & Paul Weller fan so have been keeping an ear to the ground ever wince I heard the rumours about The Jam Playing at Knebworth.

If you go to the Paul Weller website you can see the following message:

News - 30th October 2003
'Following continued speculation about the reformation of The Jam culminating in 5 nights at Knebworth next summer. Paul Weller would like to take this opportunity to stamp out these rumours and dismiss them as 'Bollocks'.
Regards,
Nicky Weller.

Also if you go to The Jam website there?s pretty much the same message:
26th October 2002 - Unfortunately the story in yesterday's News Of The World about The Jam playing 5 nights at Knebworth next year just isn't true. If you read the note I wrote two weeks ago (below) you can see where they got their idea from but it isn't true. The event's organiser at Knebworth House has even emailed to find out if it there is any truth in it - and they should know!

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
