I would have felt like that today in work, but I wasn't in :-) I was away from the old desk... still there's always tomorrow morning.

Good tip though if you ever get like this in work, have anything you order online, ebay etc sent to your workplace always a nice morning boost.

pah, tell me about it ! spend my entire existance working at present ( or in crisis mode )... need to wash hair, walk dogs, do dishes & here i am wrestling with web building WEeeeYYYYY beyond my abilities... & trying not to panic...

then altho' ebayying like mad has slowed down the overdrafts slide into the black abyss, it hasnt quite reversed the trend & now my Rally Driver, is nagging me to get my Rally license sorted for this years season & get the entry in for the first event on 14th feb, which will cost us ?100sss each.... how the hell can i justify it?! ( or actually pay it ? )...  Feck... look at the time !

Bou, may I ask you if you're paying for someone to build your site? a friend will be building mine from my own artwork and have no idea what to pay him (he's offered to do it for nothing) but I must sort him out, he's one of these people who has everything, music, films etc.

Hi ed, Ive built my own, & various off-shoots from it. So a pal is asked me to build one for him, knowing i was desperate for ANY 'paid' work (i'm self employed, hence no wage & long hours). Weve sort of negotiated as we went along, & as a pal i said he could have an hourly rate rather a squillion pounds per page, But it has evolved into a techy nightmare, pretty pictures is my forte not shopping cart & the technical spec of tyres ! Now the whole things getting off-set against my car- repair bills ( pal= my mechanic = my rally driver ).

sorry rambling, not exactly sure what a reasonable standard rate for web fu is... up here wages are still LOW, theres still adults getting ?3 per hour in village & people think i'm expensive at ?10 for design work etc, dunno what the rest of the world gets, obviously more, which is why they can buy all the houses.

sorry...that really really rambled didnt it.

How about trying to live off a student loan in Edinburgh?  Not happening sunshine, my loan just about covers my costs in Durham and it's far cheaper there than the 'burgh.  Holidays, pah haven't had a real one in 2 years.  Time off uni = time to get job & work arse off or study and try and pass these exam things.

Cheers Bou, my mate said it would take around 7 hours or so to do the basic set up (Eddie gets calculator out), it's a hobby of his so he's learning as he goes along, but yeah same here Bou, design and content is easy peasey, but getting up online baffles me simply because I havent the time to do it, I understand though that it's no big deal really once you know how! (I've got all the software here, but sadly not the time), it's basically an image site, but I've been asked about including a message board which I'm not sure about after recent problems I've encountered from my ex-regular site :-(  .

If it doesn't go to plan I'll ask you then and pay for your bar tab in Bristol if your going :-)

Cheers
Bonnie lass

Thanks Unc, that's very kind of you, I'll keep it in mind, my pal seems to think he can sort it so I'll see how things go.

It's simply an image archive bank which will have around 7 sections (and a few sub sections within several of these), but there's a vast amount of images I plan to use and need to filter out which to use (out of around 2000),
I hope to have a guest book to start with but I'm not sure about a forum yet! :-0

Just this week I've got my hands on some stills from a guy connected to Universal Studios and I've NEVER seen many of them before so it's a major boost for the site.

So when I've stopped playing with my new Creative Lab mp3 kit at the weekend, I'll get my finger out and make a start!

Thanks again!
Ed

Yup :) Got in this morning to find a nice shiny new Gameboy Advance SP sitting on my desk :)

I also do this with Lego, the day's much better if you're slowly assembling a set.

so is this an official moan thread?

This is a thread for the depressed, the disaffected, the disavowed, the malcontent, the misinformed, the ignored and the ignorant, the miserable, the down in the dumps, the dejected and the disheartened, the dispondent, the rundown, the neglected and the dumped.

Aaah feck it, it's just a chance for a DAMN GOOD MOAN!!!!!

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Just so freaking bored... and now they're taking my internet access away...

I sought a theme and sought for it in vain,
I sought it daily for six weeks or so.
Maybe at last, being but a broken man,
I must be satisfied with my heart, although
Winter and summer till old age began
My circus animals were all on show,
Those stilted boys, that burnished chariot,
Lion and woman and the Lord knows what.
...
Those masterful images because complete
Grew in pure mind, but out of what began?
A mound of refuse or the sweepings of a street,
Old kettles, old bottles, and a broken can,
Old iron, old bones, old rags, that raving slut
Who keeps the till. Now that my ladder's gone,
I must lie down where all the ladders start
In the foul rag and bone shop of the heart.

Cheers umpty, but having spent years building it so far with paypal freeware i better stick with it for now, i shall be exploring others for future use. problem was when i built it with paypal we didnt have prices, thought i could add them after, made all pretty pages out of paypal inflexable ugly set up, tried to add prices into the code, Won't work, looks like i have to start ALL over again, all those links, all that changing fonts, hundreds & hundreds of entries, and boss friend keeps changing mind..arghhhh!

boys nice poems !

floyd, anything & everything, i'm a potter, but that doesnt sell, anywhere. so started learning jewellery, aspiring towards lapidary. also flogging clothes, books, junk, & SWORDS !

moaning?... blimey the suns come out over the iced up sea loch, sparkling thru the frosty trees... tsk just look at the state of those windows.
