Title: R U suit or slob?
Post by: Queen Firey-Bou on 21 January, 2004, 03:41:07 PM
Okay we've pretty much discussed boarders taste in everything from music to ladies underwear, we've got a general profile which involves goatie beards & being over weight & bald... although most of you arent. we know that all the board girls can knock seven shades of shiv outta big heavy blokes but... how are you attired from day to day & why ? are you all default jeans over your archetypal beer guts? or all punky goths? who except Dudley wears pinstripes?

its just that i chortled when i saw in mirror today just what sub-human scruffitude i have sunk to, i just can't be bothered, & its very comfortable thankyou very much, tho i might brush my hair today. today (this month) i will mostly be wearing my dads cast-off work combats, my life/office lives in the pockets & theyre down to my knees with being to big, and theyre muddy. and i don't give a flicking rats avse.

so what about you well preened city folks ? and the rest o yous?

When I'm at work I'm afraid its a shirt and tie job for me (no suit though).

Drives the wife nuts for the ironing at the weekend but she won't let me do it for some reason.

Days: Suit, cause of work and I like it too.
At home and weekends: Practical slobbing clothes, cause of playing with the boy and doing odds and sods around the place.
Out: jeans and sommat, cause I'm not too bothered what people think.

Usually (to work) shirt (various colours, red, blue, dark purple... white's just too School, y'know?
Occasionally a tie, like once every blue moon when I feel like checking if I can remember how to tie them.
Trousers - usually pin-striped, cause I've got a really nice pair. But this week I've been mainly wearing black jeans - like pitch-black black, because me pin-stripes where still damp in the tumbledryer on Monday morning & nobody really cares what we wear here.
Boots or trainers for me feet - today trainers.
And a jumper, cause it's winter.
+black scarf, black hat & long black leather coat for outside.

Weekends: pj's if I can get away with it, otherwise, jeans/cords/t-shirt combo.

I used to wear waistcoats a lot, but I left them all at my parents house when I moved out, but I picked 'em up again at Christmas because I've been meaning to get back into them.

Work : Is meant to be smart casual.  But well lately Ive taken to wearing a suit without a tie or trousers and a smart shirt.  It means I feel much better when I take it off at night.  I suppsoe in psychological mumbo jumbo it marks the end of the day and it does make the right impression, we all have to get on you know!

Other:  Jeans, cords, t-shirts.  I suppose it could be skate/surf gear but Im getting a little old for that, so feck knows ask someone whose met me :)

And big blue overalls for DIY

At work it's a suit and tie, but non-work wear generally consists of combats, Doc's, t-shirt, hoodie and either denim jacket, leather jacket or huge RAF great coat depending on the weather.

Wearing a suit to work makes it nicer and easier to relax when I get home and can change into my normal clothes. I don't feel a complete square at work, though, as I still keep my jewellery on and piercings in, which keeps me feeling like 'me'.

who except Dudley wears pinstripes?

Can I sue for defamation of character over the net?  Pinstripes: p'chaa!
[Meant to be a spitting noise, probably doesn't make sense]

...Dudley

Currently wearing tattered jeans, boots, unfashionable "Don't Attack Iraq" T-shirt & very very big coat.

Admittedly if I were in work I'd be wearing head-to-toe M&S finest suitwear, but that's hardly the issue.

Jeans and a T-shirt mostly. Sometimes I'll wear a shirt if I've nothing else clean.

Daytime Job = Shirt and Tie (and trousers of course)

DJing = Casual Shirt/Jeans

Minging around at home = Sweatshirts/Jeans.

In the Shower = Nude.

Although I did wear a jaunty Carnation behind the ear at work today which I thought made me look quite the dapper so and so. I might adopt that on a more permanant basis.

That would be "p'too!".

"P'chaa!" sounds like it's something said whilst finger slapping, accompanied by the sound of rattling bling.

even though i should be setting some kind of example being the boss and all that, it's usually the jeans i wore the day before, a shirt/t-shirt that isn't crumpled, and white adidas

except when there's a client coming in, then i have a shave and everything

Apart from my beautiful shell, mostly jeans  t-shirts, average jerseys(cold here) work and home, no difference really.

Scruffy to fair I'd say. And the goatee cos I never replied on that other thread.

Red things on Saturdays though. Think more "Footie Hell for us Jocks" rather than "Who wants to look at women's Underware" mind :o)

"Ive taken to wearing a suit without a tie or trousers"

hehehehe

"i just can't be bothered...i might brush my hair today"

thank god i aint the only one who gets into this mind frame...

Jeans and t-shirts for me, maybe a shirt ("Its a shirt, mum, not a bloody blouse!"), boots or trainers, cheap cheap fake watch from turkey, and a pair of specks in which the right lense likes to pop out of every now and again.

Always t-shirt and jeans. On rare occasions I do wear dress shirt w/ tie and dress slacks. As for shaving, my beard grows so slowly it takes five days to get a good five o'clock shadow going. Probably from having Native American running in my viens.

Working Day: Black jeans, New Rocks, black long-sleeved tops with assorted gothic tubing, piping and logos (notably 'slut', 'goth' and 'hooker'), multiple rubber bangles and a 120 year old overcoat.

Rest of time: Black pvc or buckley tousers, bigger New Rocks, assorted tshirts, silk shirts, satin shirts, velvet shirts and long sleeved tops (all black) and a brocade pattern black frock coat.

Important meetings: Black trousers, black silk shirt, black tie, black waistcoat (satin) and platform sole black shoes under my brocade coat.

Swimming: A pair of stripey blue and grey speedo shorts.

Must get that side of my wardrobe fixed.

Oh, and I am bald of head and black of goatee. Though I'm no fatty.

And, oh fuck me! I'm 33 and have a kid.

Why don't I just become a total cliche and buy a Judge helmet and 'I love 2000ad' tshirt?

I used to wear a suit (or at least a shirt and tie) for work but now I just slob around in (mostly) stuff you can buy from the average Army and Navy type shop (though sadly they are a dying breed be replaced with sub-standard camping shops)

Fun to see the difference in people's attitude clothes make... like being called 'Sir' in shops when I had my whistle on.

TO BE THE CHEF YOU MUST LOOK LIKE THE CHEF....

clothes maketh the man.i always felt.

Kitchen Confidential totally rocks... whilst I was reading it I started doing 'proper cooking' for every meal. Reading that, a cheese sarnie for lunch just was just not gonna cut it. I keep meaning to track down his other books at some point.

I toe the line between "tramp" and "vaguely presentable". I'm more on the latter at the moment in terms of clothes.I've been wearing the same pants for roughly a month, on and off.

That's (sort of) why you're Krusty!

Work: Suit. With piercings, 14 hole dm's and spiky barnet.

Any time not at work: enormous berny's jeans, very skinny jeans or bondage trews, interestingly cut tops which i make from bigger band t-shirts, a good ol' fashioned beater, offensive shirts, band hoodies, or anything with a skull n crossbones on, battered leather with huge hand painted 'transplants' logo on the back, circa trainers, flamin' converse, pink pointy boots, more dm's or my personal fave, my converse leopard print boxin boots!
My god, that's my entire wardrobe!
Short answer, a little from column a, a little from column b.

today, i am mostly wearing the same clothes, ( different knickers & socks ), and yes theyre even dirtyer, yesterday i was slicing rocks with my new diamond cutting blade, so i stink of rock dust & oil. marvellous.

tho tonight i will have to wear shirt & tie & epaulets & uniform & shiney shoes for fire training, which totally like, sucks. i wanna stay muddy.

thankyou to the rest of you , ive now added all this info to my boarder stalking database & have all your personality profiles nearly workedout. might need a few more details later tho...hmmm

Umm, Combat trousers, Para boots, T-shirt (usually black, but I have a grey Poke-gon one). Have a tendecy to wear fleeces now 'cause I haven't found any other long-sleeved thingy that I like yet.

Black longcoat (for when outside and if it's cold)

That's for both work and play too. I'll wear something smarter if there's a wedding/funeral or I'm going out somewhere really nice.

Working day is suit and tie which some find odd with my bald head with "discharge" tattoo (see logo) on the side, still trying to grow my goatee!! Up until recently it's been jeans and tee's, but my wife says I'm having a mid-life crises as I've taken to wearing punky stuff again. Even to the extent of getting a leather jacket and studding it, haven't got round to painting it yet though!!

Seriously thinking about a facial piercing but wife doesn't think it suitable for management!!!

Work: Ex-student/slob/tramp combo = Cat boots, Black jeans, various tops including hoodies, Old faithful leather jacket that, over the years of wear, has become like "a shield of steel" and my girlfriends thong.

Weekend: Same or birthday suit/thong combo if my luck's in.

I think I`m a shirt and tie man by temperament (and age). the universities I work at don`t care what I wear, conversation schools usually have a dress code.
Yes, clothes are an important factor. They really try hard with their clothes here.

I'm naked. And wrapping an elastic band around a specific part of my anatomy to see how many times I can do it before it goes blue...
