The sketches up for auction in aid of charity was a nice touch at the last Dreddcon. But you could get sketches for free during the day, so it wasn't much of an incentive for the punters. So how about some more unique items?
Assuming an amenable script droid could be found you could auction off the chance to have a Judge, or Sin/Dex victim, or a pirate from Katerina Dantes crew named after the winner.
If there's an art droid up for it the winner could get their fisogue in a story.
Would it be possible for a winner to get to letter a panel or something like that? I really liked the idea of raising cash for charity at an event like that, and think it would be a nice touch for the next con, assuming there is a next con. Any other suggestions?

These sound like good ideas David, especially after the excitement raised by the board when Goddard/Teague included the graphitti wall, Devon's Daddy diner etc...
It could even be done as a comp in the Xmas prog.

I don't know what you think of this idea but how about something that people who can't get there can have a chance of winning?

I know I'd buy some (lots of) tickets for a raffle of 2000ad stuff. And if it's sketches they will have a minimal postage cost to allow more money to go to charity.

If it's going to be an auction, you'd have to make it quite a prominent character - you could make a fair bit! Wonderful idea actually....

If you had a name in... thing in the auction AND a raffle you'd maximise the money going into each of them (you know some get with loads of money will bid higher than you so you'd shell out on some more raffle tickets to get it that way)

i would without doubt be willing to bid on something of that nature.
could be a great marketing tool.if pitched to the right crowd. the idea of selling a panel or character name. and the raffle idea.
could be as big as the NUFF SAID. format in the press and comic book shops.

Auction off tickets for a tour of the command module, where each winner gets to walk in the shoes of Tharg for a day. (As long as they don't actually get to make any critical decisions about 2000ad!)

My idea: Get artists to draw set of cards, each one Jonathan Ross dressed as a different superhero.
Then make sure he's there at the art auction. We'll raise millions!

As the Command Module has only enough space for the few desks that are in it and near impossible for two people to walk round it at the same time it may be less exciting than people think.
