Not much, but it seems to still be an active proposition...

they took one stepp forwards and three steps back...
I hope these movies never get made, they just seem like they would be straightforward action movies and that's just not good enough.
I hope they make lots of movies, but then I`m an optimist. Not getting a big name actor for Dredd is a good idea, they could keep their helmet on longer (not that it really matters)
There are a lof of ways the Dredd movies could be good; straight action, farce, sf, surrealism, just as there are many ways the comic is good.
yours planning to buy the Buckaroo Banzai movie
I express happiness at the news that they are taking the time to put together a deserving and appropriate story.
Unlike the previous "Judge Dredd" film, 2000 A.D., the publishers of the "Judge Dredd" comic, are directly involved with the current production.
Well, you got to hang on to hope, I guess.
Who are these mysterious actors discussed?...
Why not just get John Wagner to script the bugger rather than the guy who wrote the Streetfighter movie like last time?
Why not David Hayter AKA Solid Snake to do it?
Krusty prepares for a tidal wave of derision
And also:
"The film will be dark, more like 'The Crow' with the look of 'Blade Runner,' but dark comedy must have a role in Dredd's world," Astarita told CBR.
Sounds like they at least understand the character. And, remember, ten years is a long time in the movie world (hence Batman getting another airing after the dreadful previous movies).
...David Hayter...
i believe he's busy co-scripting the next x-men movie....which is a shame (or not since i'm an x-men fan) coz he did a good job on them, got to know the characters, the word, the themes which ran in the stories and would have probably made a good go of dredd..
Now that the "Judge Dredd" film is being developed by I Am The Law, these scripts have been abandoned.
That's good news - the previous synopsis was terrible!
Hmmm.
I wonder if they'd accept scripts from fans?
- Trout
Trout - you are Sc*j* AICM ?5
J-Bo-1
Och, away and sniff some progs, J-Bo!
:-)
- Trout
Trout refused? Outrageaous! Unbelievable! That is simply spurious codswallop or jokey obnoxiousness
yours procrastinatorily,
Floyd
Good news that there ditching the shoreline scripts, which sounded pretty lame and confusing
Bad news that they say Dredd has to be dark "like the Crow". Dredd should be glaringly bright, over the top, hilarious before its "dark" - get Baz Luhrmann in to direct! If the dredd film turns out another dour grim n gritty blade runner "vision", it will have missed a trick at its first hurdle.
Luc Bresson to direct! Bax Luhrman would have to sneak dancing in somewhere (the plus side is Nicole Kidman would probably be Andersen, this is good news for people who want to see her do that)
:: Dredd should be glaringly bright, over the top, hilarious
I agree, to some extent. They should check the McCarty/Riot-era Dredds and combine them with the visual design of Fifth Element, which remains pretty much the only sci-fi to "get it right" in my book (apart, perhaps, from Blade Runner and Alien).
As usual we here nothing about this from Rebellion. The comic reading fans always seem to be the last people to know and then we find out from some unrelated, obscure website. Shame on you Rebellion, would it be so hard to post this info on your own site, or perhaps in the comic? Are we asking to much? To make up for it, how how about an update on the current situation, straight from the horses mouth.
Tarantino
And, more importantly, how will the news about this new Dredd movie impact on the back-issues price of prog 2?
We demand an answer, Rebellion!
Well it would be nice to know...
We do tend to find all the interesting news from people on this site - either fans who've found other websites detailing stuff, or droids who are giving us the unofficial inside skinny - rather then Rebellion press releases for the front page of this site or from Tharg's Nerve Centre.
>>Well it would be nice to know...
I'm sure we'll be told something, as soon as there's something to tell.
That story on CBR didn't say much, really. One movie instead of two. New storyline, new script.
"That story on CBR didn't say much, really. One movie instead of two. New storyline, new script"
Guh? Sarcasm?
Okay, I take it back...the DC news & the D'Israeli MacUser news are now on the front page.
