Just read this and, well what can I say but... pants.
Sorry to any Siddah fans, but it just doesn't float my boat, Davis artwork is very good as per, but the whole dialogue of Siddah talking to himself about his past, the tired father prospective son in law jokes and the bad guy is really limp. I feel like I've just gone back in time to an episode from Crisis.

Having spent most of the last year slagging off Pat Mills' work (it's purely a personal thing: I don't like Charleyz War and I think most of his other "classic" creations hugely overrated), I'll step in to say I LIKE BLACK SIDDHA.
The jokes have a hit-rate of at least 50%, the writer's tongue is quite clearly in his cheek throughout, and the premise is intriguing. Also, Black Siddha's costume/weapon is extraordinarily cool.
It's early, I'm knackered - someone else can do a better defence...
I really like Charley's War. For me it's the best strip in the Megazine. I don't like Black Siddha. The artwork is fine. The romantic comedy elements are amusing, and a nice change of pace from all the shooting you get in other stories, but it's not anything I'm interested in reading. The guy getting stuck on the roof was funny, but "window sex"??? That's rubbish!
And the hero's costume is nothing special. It just so happens Finn isn't using it anymore.
Black Siddha is 10 times better than Blood of Satanus II, but no better or worse than any of the occasional strips that fill up the Megazine, including Dredd, Middenface, Whatever..?, Mean Machine, Juliet November, etc.
...none of which are as good as the reprint section!

Balck Siddha has previously skirted on the edge between "O.K" and "Atrocious". Recently it's gone to the dark side. The "gritty" needle hostage scene smacked of desparation, and the sexual innuendo, well just don't get me started on that...

i knidof like it, but like Most of Mills stuff, i want to like it , i expect to like it, i like the premis, but then its so clunky & the dialogue makes mw wince & ...yes i roll my eyes & groan ( not in a good way ) frequently. cant he just pitch the ideas & someone else writes & injects some bloody life into the scripts?
