Just out of interest, but how high above sea level is Mega City One? I only ask because the Twin Towers have featured in the Undercity. So if MC1 was built on top of old New York how high must it stand? The atmosphere must be pretty thin up there.
Maybe that is why smoking is banned in the public.

The film company, (Columbia I think) decided it would be disrespectful to keep showing it after the terrorist attack on Sept 11. So they pulled it from the cinemas world wide.

Everything above a certain height was demolished to a level that could be built over.
The other excuse was that it was taken apart and rebuilt.

I'm not 100% sure but I seem to remember Dredd steering his lawmaster down the stairwell of one of the towers in Dreddlocked (a virgin novel). I can't remember the plot but just that Dredd arrived in the undercity by landing on the rooftop of one of the towers. I also think he destroyed them to kill the bad guys. Can anyone clear this one up without me having to read the novel again?
