it will be 100 percent faithful to the Rogue Trooper character and will be very different to Rebellion's first 2000 AD-inspired title, Judge Dredd: Dredd Versus Death.

Sounds good!

I like the DvD game, but I'm sure glad that RT will be a *different* game.

Blimey I've only had my new icon for a minute and someone's already used it as well!

That'll serve me right for having to rely on the goodwill of other more techy minded folk.

Heh - RT back-of-the-box synopsis:

"You're the last of the Genetic Infantrymen, on a mission to find the Traitor General.. no, you're an intergalactic assassin... oh, fuck, you're a tortured medic..."

It's old-skool Rogue, and that's probably about as much as I'm allowed to tell you right now. We saw and played the current demo the other day - bearing in mind that there's another year to go before this is published - and it already R0XX0RS M1 S0XX0RS, as l33t gamers would say.

Ever so slightly more info from C&VG's site (posted 04/05/04)

Rebellion secures publisher for its third-person action game based on the 2000AD character, plus reveals new info.

SCi has signed an agreement to publish Rebellion's Rogue Trooper game, the former company has revealed in a corporate press statement.  UK developer Rebellion has been working on its Rogue Trooper title for some time. It's the studio's second game to be based on a comic strip from 2000AD.

Speaking to Rebellion earlier today about the game, it wouldn't give too much away, but did confirm that it's third-person action.

"Scenarios are currently being worked on where the guys on the gun, helmet and backpack are placed in different locations to allow for co-ordinated attacks," the developer said in reference to Rogue's three former battle comrades, now biochip buddies, who reside in these items.

SCi had little to add, other than suggesting we "keep and eye on the SCi website" for further details.

Rogue Trooper is in development for PS2 and Xbox. Release date to be announced

Ooh yeah just think of the great abilities he'd bring to a co-ordinated ambush.

A telekinetic Gunnar could float around blasting things.
Bagman can dispense mini-mines and all manner of other useful goodies.
And Helm could....well he could....erm....shout stuff like "Look out Rogue" or "Shut up Gunnar" while looking all indestructable perched on top of Rogue's head or a nearby rock.
