According to Variety, Viggo (Aragorn in Lord of the Rings) Mortensen has signed to play the lead in David Cronenberg's film adaptation of the excellent John Wagner graphic novel A History of Violence.

Chrono-Bishop!
Is anyone else reading Dig-L's current run?
I picked up issues 1 to 4 the other day and was pleasantly surprised.
It has, IMO, some nice horror elements, although - largely due to the continuity baggage - it doesn't come close to Moore's run.
Actually that should go without saying. What could compare with that wonderful stuff?
Anyway, I'd be interested in other boarders' opinions of the book.
Also, I'm a little out of touch with the continuity. I'm ashamed to say I've still got a few bits of the Moore tales to get hold of.
I do know -

- that Tefe, the daughter, was conceived using Constantine in some bizarre surrogate dad thing.
Then she was the main character for a while, in a reboot for the title, which flopped.
How did she get to her current age? Did she age naturally? I suppose it's been about 20 years since the Moore/Veitch/Tottling Bin run.
And what happened during the series she was the focus of?
Was her dad in it? How come she ended up in the spotlight?
I'd be grateful for your help, sprout fans!

mmmmmm viggo, i'll vote for that....droool
I'M a big fan of Cronenberg- so hopes are high, for this adaptation. But i must confess i havn't read it. So a few questions: what's it about? Is it any good? And, is it still in print?
This must be great news for John Wagner. Now if we can only get some more 2000AD films made.:)

It's good, and I'd definitely recommend it, for me it's not the best graphic novel ever though.
Given the subject matter and tone of the book I'm not that surprised it has attracted Cronenburg. It's all good news for John Wagner, be interesting to see how the film turns out.
I've deleted my rant about Lord of the Rings stars appearing all over the shop, needless to say, Hawk the Slayer was the better movie.
look viggo has appeared in other filums you know. okay so far all the ones ive seen have been shonky pish filler drivel, but he still looks great in em.
oh and he can ride horses & stuff you know. mmm.
I've had a quick look on the net to see if I can buy this book with no joy. Can anyone else find somewhere where I can buy it?
Ta,
Pete.
I enjoyed Crimson Tide. VM played Denzel's best mate, a character nicknamed Weaps.

One word of caution: Hidalgo.
Can anyone else find somewhere where I can buy it?
I had trouble tracking it down as well. I ended up getting a near mint copy from the U.S. for about ?1.50 from Ebay.
Shame I can't find the Martin Barker Action* book for the same kind of price.

La Placa Rifa,
W. R. Logan.
Cheers Logan, you're the man! (Now can you answer my Chopper question...?)
haven't seen him in much else, but from what i heard he's picky about his roles (probably more so now that he's made a name for himself) so if he has signed up to this it must be a good thing (meaning this might be good). plus also he's a cool guy, a poet, an artist and, as bou said, he can ride horses and stuff.....plus also, a good actor imo.......
heh, well I don't fancy him at all (it's the genes, you know) but I'm quite heartened by this news. Damn, my hopes are being raised that this film might not be a stinking pile of poo.
