Forget all this film malarkey. The only version of the Hitch Hiker's Guide that really matters is coming back for a tertiary phase this autumn. And DNA himself is in it!
Link: It's coming home...
For a moment there I thought it was the beginning of the march of the Undead Sci-Fi authors.
Aiiieee! Zombie-Aasimov!
YES!!!
This is probably old news, but it's been confirmed (I now discover) that a 4 hour Farscape miniseries is being made to tie-up all the dangly bits left by the sudden cancellation after series 4. Frankly it turned to tosh halfway through series 3, so I don't really know what's going on, but it looks as though they're going back to brass tacks for this. Could be quite funky.
Link: Yay! More rubber-suited nonsense!
Necromacer!! Burn Pete!!
What's a Necromacer?
Someone who sprays pepper-spray into the eyes of the undead?
Steve
It's produced by Dirk Maggs, who also produced the two Judge Dredd radio series.
They've had it waiting for a broadcast for a couple of years now!
I'll be glad to finally hear it, though.
Won't be the same without Peter Jones...I really can't imagine anyone else as the voice of the Book!
Oh, and while we're on the subject of off-topic news, BBC4 has a good line up this Saturday - the documentaries about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Nigel Kneale, an episode of Adam Adamant and part one of Doctor Who, the Web of Fear (which is one of the few episodes I've never seen, as last years 'Missing Stories' box set sold out within minutes, and now goes for astronomical sums on eBay).
Be there AND be square!
"Won't be the same without Peter Jones..."
Well, of course not, although from listening to the preview, I'd say William Franklyn sounds about as good as a replacement as you could hope for, ditto with Richard Griffiths as Slartibartfast.
I also note that Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged is played by Judge Dredd himself, Toby Longworth.
IIRC, strangely, when the original series was cast, Peter Jones wasn't first choice for the Book, despite the script describing the Book as having a "Peter Jones type voice".
Yeah, looking forwards to it. Waterstones currently has a 3 for 2 deal on audiobooks so you can get a good deal on the primary and secondary phases of Hitch-hikers.
Much choise for the free one but you could buy a Peter Wimsey adaptation and get more Peter Jones as he made an excellent Bunter in them.
Mentioned this before but should be interesting continuity: second radio series (already broadcast) and the third book both have the same starting point but go off in different directions but with some events happening in both. Not that I'm a sci-fi continuity obsessive myself mind.

YAAAAY!
I was really pleased tp hear about this on R4 last sun., can't wait till september!
