I love Judge Lex more and more every time I see it, the man is in danger of upstaging Dredd in their scenes together! :D

Reckon he'd make a great Judge Pal.

Yeh I have to admit, i was surprised when i didn't find it too bad after all the 'most violent film I've ever seen' tweets, also on exiting the first screening I went to, two of my mates talking about how violent it was...me? densensitized?...never!

To be honest though while there are some pretty violent moments (one in particular that shocked me) I think it's quite measured throughout the film and not needless splatter every five seconds and i certainly think most of it's not done just for shock value.
I was waiting for a 95 minute sequence of blood, entrails, viscera splattering everywhere. Yes there are some violent scenes but I think some of the reviews have made it sound almost scarily violent...seen much worse to be honest.

yup, cant say fuck origins. its a bonefide classic.

Pretty much everything in origins would be great as a sequel, maybe combine it with elements of the pro democracy storylines or as I think Michael VK mentioned maybe something with Anderson and the mutants...there'd be so much to get your teeth into.

Film Discussion / Re: DREDD CONCEPT ART

I wonder how much variance there was from the start of pre-viz to the point they were ready to go?
Were there concepts that leaned closer to the mc1 of the comics. These would suggest they had a very concrete idea of what they wanted from early on.
Only the shot from outside the wall on the previous page looks like they might've had a stab at the packed with crazy architecture style from the strip.

I would say if Dredd ends up pulling 3- 3.5 that would be pretty good, wouldn't it? Or am I way off what's considered good for a UK box office?

Did anyone notice a lot of this isn't even available yet? Couple months wait til they're even released!

Baseball - available 3/12/2012
Emo hoody - available 4/2/2013

Seems to be happening more often now, I blame Call of Duty etc. being available for pre-order like 8 months before release.

Actually hadn't noticed that, ah well christmas wear. Meanwhile I'd better order something that is available to tide me over :)

Wouldn't even bother commenting on this 'article'...the title alone shows the level on journalism on display here.

Beautiful stuff...loving the cityscapes, wasn't too much deviation from page to screen either, except to strip it down a little further than the concepts.
A talented crew for this film indeed.

I've been listening to this on a continuous loop in between going to see the film several times.  I have to say, the way the music ties in with the action is just brilliant.

This.
I love the opening sequence just after the credits, you have the Dredd monologue with that tense slow beat and then it kicks up to higher gear as we cut to the Dredd in pursuit segment...it's quite brilliantly done and was bloody exhilarating at the cinema.
Soundtrack in general is just great.

Also blame the fact that some chains won't deal with Entertainment Film, not even the Savoy.

Yup I'd noticed when I went looking to book tickets thin king to go to the savoy for old time's sake the movie wasn't even listed...a shame, we're a small enough box office i guess, but pity it's not going to get the chance of maximum exposure here.

Really? I cringe every time Statham does an American accent.. Why they insist on making him do one is beyond me.. What about Tom Hardy for Rouge trooper?

Did I dream this once? Wasn't Rutger Hauer loosely attached to a Rogue Trooper project back in the 90's...? Did that ever really happen...?

You didn't dream it, I remember the rumours that the property had been optioned and he was attached to the proposed movie.
Not sure why it never happened

Unfortunately not so much on the promo front here (Ireland) in terms of billboards etc...at least not from what I've seen.
In fact, both cinemas I've been to so far didn't even have any standees or one sheets on display...disappointing, but that's just my experience maybe others have seen something.

Yeh the 95 ones were such a let down when i went to see that movie, at the time they reminded me of dodgem cars and when the actually flew....jaysus, sickened is not the word to describe my feelings towards that design travesty.

I'll be heading out for a third helping this week and also bringing different folks along, so far everyone I've been with dredd fans or not have loved it.
