I do not understand how Joe Drake (head of LGF) can still have a job after he malicously dumped 19 in development movies greenlit by his predecessor, thereby costing LGF untold millions and at least two potential franchises.

It's rule number 1 for studio bosses: sack everything in development in case something your predecessor did becomes a success and raises the expectations of your own performance. Basically, if a new male lion takes over a pride, its first act is to kill all the cubs that aren't his own. This is how studios have always, always done things. If you climb high enough to become a studio head, then it is expected that you act as nonsensically, illogically, wastefully and egotistically as you damn well please. It's textbook Hollywood, which is to say it's detrimental to everyone except the single guy at the top and there's fuck all anyone can do about it.

New York officially hates a Judge Dredd movie that cross-pollinates Escape From New York and The Warriors

They're mostly 24/7 movie nerds who watch and review absolutely everything while understanding very little. Fascinating species if you don't get too close.

He gave Total Recall a 3/5, and so I'd be surprised if Dredd didn't get the same or better. Depends if he slams it for gore, I guess.

He tends not to like relentlessly exciting films, IIRC he couldn't stomach Aliens.

Also spending 90 minutes staring at a dude's jaw could make him really uncomfortable.

There was the odd note or two that sounded jarringly middle-class to me.
Caleb referring to the squalid druggie shithole as a "distribution center" and Kay's use of the word "family" in a line that called for something more like "Mom n Pops".
Maybe it's just me.

95% on RT. Tookey's work in this age is done, now he can return to his crypt for re-mummification and take a well-deserved thousand year slumber.

COMPUTER SEZ NO. Indigo, I think they're being a bit thick - Dredd 3D will of course show up on their system as 3D only; whereas Dredd ought to return a substantial amount of 2D prints. Ask again.

I got the impression she broke his neck with that kick.

"The problem with Judge Dredd is that such a left-wing comic strip is never going to translate well to Hollywood. I could only see it working as a mid-budget British production."

Those of you who've seen it - when did you go and how many other people were in the room?

I went at 1830 on a Friday evening and there were about 30 other people out of a possible 350 seats.

Keith Lemon was booked out. This makes me nervous and concerned.

Yeah, Kermode is a good reviewer, he just has terrible taste (likes Twilight, hates Withnail)

In Tookey's defence, he does his job, which is to recommend movies that his paper's readership might enjoy seeing, and to steer them away from movies they probably won't like. Current editorial and advertising standards dictate that these movies be relatively recent, otherwise he could review Casablanca and Birth of a Nation every day and everyone would be happy.

The Daily Mail called Dredd a "brutal sci-fi killfest" but only gave it 2 out of 5? No wonder our nation's grannies are so confused.
